Tell me about Grandfather Mountain

The NC mountains are the most beautiful ever. Luray Caverns Va are so gorgeous you can speak to God. And I still rate NC the most serene. Boone got real political and said all are welcome there they hate Trump.

It seems like a lot of leftists feed bears up there off their porches, like they won't get attacked ever if they love them enough.

The whole area is gorgeous. I was amazed at the number of Christmas tree farms up there.

I live in the State and I discover new places in the mountains. I just saw there is a yellow brick road place.

It closed & may have reopened?

I’ve never had anyone ask who I voted for…except my wife. I’m a rebulican, but would rather hear a Steve Earle concert over a Toby Keith. Music and beer brewing are two things liberals do better than conservatives. I don’t argue, just drink good beer and listen to good music.

My day has some septagenarian neighbors who are gay, but they're the closest thing I've found to liberals. I tend to avoid boone, but Linville falls, banner elk, sugar mountain, or 7 devils are all good in my book.

My dad is bailing back to Florida this week, supposed to hit in the 20s at 4500' up, so he's out until may 1. Born in Miami in the 40s, pre ac, is now a snowbird I've honestly been there during late july-mid august, at his elevation 82 is the highest temp I've experienced.

IKR.

When we were up there last October, we were genuinely shocked at the amount of hillsides that are covered w/Xmas trees. Come to find out that that is their cash crop there in lieu of cattle farming. They raise XMas trees.

Just got back from blue ridge Georgia, and all the surrounding towns. It was beautiful. Hopefully one day the wife and I can retire there as long as it doesn’t get more tourists.

My son just started his Master's Degree at Western Carolina(WCU) in Cullowhee. 45 minutes west of Asheville. Tons of little mountain towns are very picturesque. Wife and I are working out a way to move there eventually. Sylva, Hendersonville, Waynesville areas.

About 15 years ago, my parents nearly bought a mountain top with my inlaws. It was just outside of Highlands and had huge views Northwest and south east due to being on top of a mountain. It could have been divided into 6-7 over 1 acre lots.

They spent $50k digging wells. They never hit water, so they didn't buy. It was heartbreaking.

Boone was a wonderful place to spend my college years, and I enjoy going back up for Football and Basketball games. Good paying jobs not tied to the University are tough to find there and it is definitely a college town through and through. I would love to retire there down the line, but I think that would be a tough sell for my wife
