Next time ask them how they install the oil drain plugs.

Looking back over the years, I’ve had at least 21 vehicles. Never lost an engine.

I did have a busted line to the transmission from the cooler. Cold morning, only a couple blocks from the house. Called a buddy, with a mobile service. We replaced both lines, added new fluid, started the motor, kept the brakes on. Ran it through the gears, without moving, shut it down, topped off the fluid. Did the same thing. Started driving it. Put over 100k more miles, w/o a problem. Sold it to the guy next door. No problems.

They don't use impact wrenches. I know that for a fact.

Ehhhhhhhhh it's the absolute borderline you would want to run some of the best oils with the absolute best filters. These manufacturers recommending 12k to 15k mile changes are FOS. There is no way I would run anything that long. You have to remember... they just want the car to run till it's out of warranty. These same manufacturers also say the transmission fluid is permanent. The only permanent fluid is water. It damn sure isn't transmission fluid running in a complex, fluid dependent, gearbox that has clutches in it that wears.

Yeah, metal rubbing against metal, you’re going to have microscopic shavings circulating that will F shite up

Slimy.

Unless you dive in high temp, dust, idle (city traffic), etc…

Go the 10k w/synthetic.

Oil is cheap compared to the engine.

My usual place tried to charge me $270 for my F250 this week. Up from the normal $170 I used to pay. They said they changed the supplier to a better oil and that's why. Not my issue and the oil is not $100 better.

I will never go back there. Went to another place and it was $180

What brand oil filters? They aren’t the same. I only use Motorcraft or ACDelco filters.

The issue you are now running into is that manufactures are now running super thin oil like 0w8. The viscosity on it is so low that it really does need to be changed regularly

Yeah there are videos all over YouTube showing what happens to Hyundais and Kias with the super lightweight oils they’re running.

No way I’m going 10k with an 0w8, it’s just not worth it given the risk to reward.

Rees St. I would trust L&L tire as well. Herbert's Garage changed ownership and its called something else now.

I never change my own oil because I'm always getting my tires rotated at the same interval. I'm already bringing it to a place so no use in changing my own oil.

they said 3,000 miles as my “oil change reminder.”

Even if it wasn't synthetic, 3K is still bullshite. There are probably people who follow that religiously just because they are told that it has to be changed after 3k, but you can go at least 5k before changing it..

I don't use synthetic bc it last too long. My tires need rotation before 10,000 miles. So I get the blend and go back in 5,000 miles for oil and tire rotation at same time.

My wife's grandparents changed their own religiously at the 1500 mark. He swore it makes vehicles last longer.

I have an oil gasket leak so I rarely get oil change since I’m regularly putting new oil in. I never let it get below the add line before topping off. I’ll probdbly go thru a full 5 quarts of oil every 2 months and it’s always less than say 3,000 miles on the oil I’m adding.

I just don’t want to get the gasket fixed so I’ll keep doing it this way. I’ve tried Stop Leak but not had much luck with it.

There are a lot of easy things that aren't worth my time to do. Changing oil is one of them. So is banging your mom.
