Working OT next week. Customers need materials. We haven't figured out how to cut and fabricate remotely yet.

I’m picturing him as Dwight Shrute twirling his gun as he manages the team.

I find there are some jobs that can be done 100% remote but in our business not the majority.

Between large format drawings, scanning, reviewing and markups we still do a lot of work with paper.

I think too for a lot of positions productivity could fall off. You’ll have people charging 40 hours but not likely getting 40 hours of productivity.

Sounds like this boss is making decisions based on the info at hand that are for the good of the business. Not letting panic and hysteria make the decisions for him.

No dumbass, they are saying to actually perform work from home and not take naps/play video games like you are probably inclined to do.

No dumbass, they actually weren’t. We do 600k/month out of my location and have to physically pick and deliver inventory to meet that number. Yea, I can enter a quote or an order from home. I can not monitor the SOPs and Regulations that we must adhere to from home. I can’t print sign and scan back a PO from home. They were saying you can work from home if you feel the need to do so, but business better not slip, and it would if we were working from home, therefore go to the office.

Let's see......food industries...not shutting anything down. I work in one. Last night, business as usual, dine in was busy, so was delivery.

Don't be a scared little pussy, and you can't sue somebody because they got sick.

Corporate America isn't gonna shut down anything, the all mighty dollar still rules.

Hospitals are still open right?????

I likely need a scanner and a pro printer, along with dual monitors (already own)... but I would gladly invest the $2K necessary to work from home, even 1-2 times a week. I live within 3 miles of where I work, but the traffic, having to get into work clothes, go out for lunch, etc... still kills 60-90 minutes every day.

common sense

This is why no one likes old people.

This isn't the 80's and 90's. People can work from home as efficiently as ever.

With a viral outbreak, it makes no sense to force people to come into the office that can absolutely 100% work from home.

Coming to work sick or potentially sick is not a badge of honor. It's moronic.

We got the notice today that we are encouraged to work from home beginning Monday unless your job requires you to be on site. You can come in if you want but no one is to try and pressure their support staff to come in.
