It's not charity. You pay for that shite.
Your employer, technically. But take the help.
I got laid off a few months ago and it was actually probably for the better for my long term plan and goals. Funny the way things work out sometimes.

Can your skills translate to something outside the energy sector? The whole damn thing is blowing up and I honestly don't see any significant recovery in oil prices for a long time. There is nothing on the horizon to show a major jump in prices, and if one were to happen, there is so much supply on the sidelines that any price jump would be temporary.
If you want to stay in Louisiana, maybe you can move into the manufacturing sector? Not sure how many of the new plants going online in S. La. have analyst type roles down here, of if that's all corporate somewhere else.
Good luck.

I got laid off in the oilfield industry a couple weeks ago and I feel the same way.

What type of Analyst? any technical programming/Sql Skills?
Inventory/Materials analyst. Most of my skills can translate to other analyst type roles but not so much the IT side.

I'm in Houston and know some folks
I greatly appreciate it but Houston just isn't a place I would want to live. San Diego or somewhere near there is the only area I want to live. I was transferred to the Thibodaux area a few years back for this job and hate it here. I came to realize that where I live is a important factor in my life. Thought for awhile I could live anywhere and be happy.

Look into other sectors of energy i.e. nuclear. I know Waterford 3 is looking to staff some odd ~1500 people in the near future. I don't work for them, but many knowledgeable sources have told me. I've been keeping an eye on the gulf south job postings from Entergy (Waterford 3, Riverbend, Grand Gulf, ANO) Entergy job site
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.

If you're around sensitive/proprietary information, this is common practice. At least the "no warning, being escorted out" part.

At about the 2nd or 3rd layoff you should have been looking for a new job baw.

Just have the landlord draw up a pretentious lease.

Opportunity knocks. Think of this as the universe showing you some new doors.

I was also about to suggest some sort of healthcare analytics role. Hospitals that don't outsource Revenue Cycle, A/R, etc are usually looking for analysts

This will probably be the answer.

Not a bit of medical experience. All my experience is in the oilfield but I'm only 31 so still have opportunity to gain experience elsewhere. I'm done with the oilfield forever.

My wife is a controller for a hospital and a few months ago hired a woman who was in the oilfield sector for 10+ years. Id def look into the hospitals if thats something youd be interested in doing. I know Ocshner has analysts roles.
