I'll pick up something immediately just to fill the gap until my next job. Never wanted to utilize unemployment benefits but may have to.

When I was on UI 6 years ago, it was $248 a week and that was max benefits.

No. I wasn't an offshore worker. I was in an analyst role.

It hasn't changed, I was laid off in July. I signed up for it but found a job 2 weeks later so never actually received in money from UI.

Bust your arse to find a new job, even if its not what you "prefer" Industrial Construction is booming right now. Go to lake charles, LA. Beaumont, TX.

Exactly. There are tons of projects going on right now and for the foreseeable futures. Many of these owners have been waiting on permits and are ready to break ground asap. Check out websites, for Fluor, Bechtel, Jacobs, CBI, etc. They have tons of craft and staff positions which you may be qualified for

It's unfortunate, and I'm sorry to hear about this, never fun.

Congrats on working for a company that would base your employment not on business needs, but your personal situation. That struck me as kind of crazy. My company doesn't give a frick if I am in a lease or not. When it's my time to go, it's going to be my time to go.

Are you technical staff (i.e. engineer, geoscience)?

Just curious.

Tell us what you do and where (other than San Diego) you wouldn't mind living. I'm in Houston and know some folks.

When we have layoffs we don't give a warning or severance package. You literally find out and have to pack up your shite and get escorted out.

I could not work for a company that gave such an utter lack of concern about their employees.

Layoffs happen and if the company is real bad off, I can understand not having severance. But no notice and just being escorted out with no warning? Horse turds.

Probably why they laid you off, outsider!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, though. Good luck.
