I still don’t know what the frick an NFT is.
An ownership interest of an individual digital item that can be verified as uniquely yours and not a copy.

If I borrowed $20 bucks from you, you would not care if I paid you back with a $10 and two $5’s. That’s a fungible transaction.

If I borrowed your car, I can’t you bring you back a similar car. That’s a non-fungible transaction. It’s unique.

NFT’s are unique and allow you unique ownership of the use of it.

See?

I just right-clicked and saved it to my desktop. It's also now my phone background.

Hopefully you get some additional utility from actually buying this

I think NFT's are kinda dumb too but the ownership of the original is easy to prove/disprove.

So That said if you have a Mona Lisa Print at home, does that make it valuable? Does the print not look as 'good' as the original? It probably looks better than the original. But it's worthless.

Owners of NFTs are investing in the ownership of the original artwork(1st edition if you will) and don't seem to care about millions of copies floating around.

FYI I will never buy art, real or nft. But I do understand the investment aspect of original art.

As I understand it, and maybe I’m wrong, they don’t even own the artwork. They just own a url or link to the url, or something like that.

If they were doing a 2022 animated remake of Sanford and Son, this would be Grady.

How would a casual token admirer know if what he was looking at was valuable?

You have to basically jump into the space and learn what is what.

For instance, this is a degenerate ape academy nft. The 'floor price' of these, meaning the cheapest you can buy one right now, is 65 Solana. Solana is over $100 so this ape costs around 7k USD. This is the cheapest and shittiest you can get right now

Solana monkey business floor is 190-200 Solana. So about 20k for these

lol i was just messing with you. the nft space is goofy and out of control right now. its fun getting involved with all of the nonsense.

people are seriously overextending though in it

Not to mention the car provides some real life utility. These NFTs are easy to create so there is an infinite supply. Hard to justify value without some level of scarcity.
