Not sure about L.A.
The homeless camps are packed like sardines like NYC but with canvas/cardboard walls instead of concrete.

The smog kills the virus. Carbon emissions will save us.

I'm definitely going to say this, however it does not fit the narrative as to why Tokyo hasn't been decimated. Tokyo has probably twice the population density of NYC and almost everyone uses public transportation

I wonder if we're going to see numbers start to rise out of Japan now that the Olympics are definitely postponed...

Just because they are Chinese and they live in San Francisco does not mean that they automatically have the virus.

NYC is definitely more condensed but I also imagine some things like the week that SF was ahead of NY in shutting down helped. With exponential spread, I'm sure a week can make a huge difference.

I have also read a few experts who seem to think that this had to be spreading in NY as far back as late January to explain the current outbreak.

Manhattan is 16 square miles and there are roughly 8+ million people in the 5 boroughs, are you dumb?

NYC includes more than Manhattan.

Most of the people in SF Bay Area have actually taken the virus serious.

People arent taking into account culture and population density into some of these comparisons. Asian countries have been hit hard with diff corona virus strands before. More prepared.

In places like Japan, they already are more aware of spreading germs and people wear masks when there isnt a pandemic. In the US we shake hands, in countries like spain and italy, they kiss and caress when meeting.

There is a huge difference in the way people interact socially across the globe.

Due to the similar Chinese population in Los Angeles along with more flights to China, I would have expected them to get hit at least as hard. Ten percent of San Franciso's population is Chinese and they only have 152 cases.

I'm floored that somebody would think there's a correlation between Chinese population and the virus.

Tokyo culture is strong regarding how you manage infectious disease in populated areas, similar to the other Asian international cities. Cough in public without a mask on and you bring shame upon your entire family.

If we all had masks to wear it would cut the transmission rate by a lot but since we don’t have enough to go around they tell you they don’t work.
