Agreed. Looking at concert tickets priced at say, $65 each, then when you go to actually buy them it turns into $100 each is absolute bullshite.

My dad's ticket for the Dome Saturday was FIFTY FIVE FREAKING DOLLARS!!!!!! They said it was $25, but there weren't any booths open at the Dome. So you had to go online. Goes online and it's $30. Then when you go to buy, $5 in taxes and $20 processing fee. Absolute horseshite.

Exactly. Its too the point you can't ever trust a face value price on anything.

It will save people money because the people who can’t afford it won’t buy it when they know the actual final price up front. It’s a predatory sales tactic that does gain them customers that they otherwise wouldn’t get

either due to overlooking the fee or due to not wanting to waste the time to look for a different place to save the $50.

At what point does any personal responsibility come into play? I didn't want to "waste time" figuring out if a black friday deal is actually a deal or not, either. But as it's my money, nobody is going to look after where it goes better than me.

I didn't know the flight connected in Boston in February? Poor me. I didn't understand that basic economy meant no bag, even though there is an icon next to the price with a bag with a slash through it? I thought it wouldn't let me select a seat for my brood of six at purchase, but I'd surely be able to do it right before boarding?

You know what might have moved the needle? Forcing venues to integrate with more than one "ticket partner" (LiveNation) for events of over 500 people. But frick that, let's institute some "truth in broadband" level bullshite like prices on these events are indecipherable cereal boxes.

LoL. I am a Marriott Titanium. I stay in their properties A LOT every year for work. I would agree 100%

As a Lifetime Titanium we could probably divide the commenters in here into two categories: 1) Those that stay in a hotel room more than 20 nights a year, or those that fly 10+ segments a year and 2) Everyone else.

Yeah, geniuses, those great fares on SWA mean you leave your hotel in Orlando at 0345 to make the flight. Shooocking.

To your point about destination fees on rewards bookings, I tend to be particularly careful about reading the fine print. I learned before I started my Marriott journey that any hotel, no matter how shitty, is going to change terms and conditions during the weekend of the Sugar Bowl, etc.

Hotel accountants can get fricked. I've only had two run ins with them, one recently. The idiots at the front desk agreed to extend my ex-wife's stay with (and charge) the credit card I used to make the reservation, which was not what she checked in to actually pay for it with.

Now do the same with my cell phone bill and all the govt fees that are included on my monthly $20 plan that ends up $25.

I mean it will create more fair market competition. If I see ticket master has a ticket for $95 but stubhub has it for $85 and I know I don’t have to deal with nonsense feee you best believe I’m going with stubhub. If enough people do that ticket master will have to adjust their prices or go away.

If this allows me to see the price before filling out a whole bunch of info it'll be an improvement.

I get that there are costs associated with keeping up with systems that sale tickets....overhead if you will. But just put that up front. Ticketmaster is such a bitch about this stuff.

Not to mention, it would be easier to defend if they were the same for everything, but it varies. 20 for this, 40 for that 58....I saw one show where the processing fee was 70 bucks.. over half the price of the ticket alone.

There should be a standard processing fee...whatever, just name it. Be consistent. If its a 30 dollar ticket for a monster truck show, just say the tickets are 65 and take your 35 fee. If its a 200 dollar ticket for Morgan Wallen, say the ticket is 235....seems pretty simple.

Unfortunately this is true. It's not like Live Nation and Ticketmaster are going to lower their revenues. Now you'll just be able to more clearly see the price as they're fricking you.

Breaking up their monopoly would be a lot more powerful.

How do you do this? Doesn't the band/promoter choose the venue which to sell tickets? How do you have multiple ticket vendors sell the same act/show?

Live Nation owns everything in the process. Put simply, they own the venue and the ticket processor so if you want to play X venue then you have to sell tickets exclusively through Ticket Master, which they also own. So they bone both the consumer and the performer because they can control how much of the ticket the performer gets and how much they charge the consumer because there’s no other game in town

Not sure what took the FTC so long. Hotels, rental cars and airlines were forced to start doing this many many years ago.

This is great for consumers. While they will still have fees, them being up front do two things.

1)saves you a boatload of time clicking through and entering all your Information to finally find out what the fees will total….sometimes you end up purchasing even over your budget cause you got that far
2)competition will increase and theoretically drive down those extra fees. It will be 10x easier to compare sites. This will drive down traffic to those sites and likely hit them in ad revenue too. To get the numbers back up, they will reduce their fees
