Maybe because being mean to someone is not nearly as serious as making a list of people you want to kill?

But if this girl wasn't bullied there would be no list.

Just so I'm clear, you're okay with committing a felony when someone hurts your feelings?

That's a stupid question and how do you know it isn't more that just "hurting her feelings?"

That you won't answer because you know you've chosen the wrong side of the argument.

Since they have the "bullies" names and they weren't charged with anything, I'm going to go with the obvious.

So again, you're okay with a person committing a felony in response to being teased or laughed at?

EDIT: Looks like it wasn't a felony, but a catch-and-release summons. Still, committing a crime because someone made fun of you is a weak move.

EDIT #2: Actually, LRS 14:40.1 B Menacing is punishable by hard labor. It is a felony.

Kids this age have had “bullying” pounded into their heads since they started school. I understand that real bullying does go on and often needs to be addressed.

This. My 2nd grader is always talking about being bullied. It’s kids picking on each other in her situation. But they get the “bullying” talk all the time at school.

Back in the day, that was common but they simply added an "s" to the "hit list".

Multiple "hit lists" ?

Again, a stupid question, and again, how do you know what the degree of "teasing" is?

Writing down names on a piece of paper is a felony? Expressing her anger and documenting her frustrations and feelings is a long way from shooting up a school.

We have to take every conceivable threat seriously in the current climate, but to demonize this victim while excusing her tormentors is an odd stance to take.

As soon as you find me a criminal code in the Louisiana Revised Statutes for "Teasing", we can discuss the legality of making fun of someone.

Until then, you're firmly in the camp of committing a felony because someone clowned you.

It doesn't say she was menacing anyone. Another student made it known she had a list.

And, the guy you're arguing with is suggesting both parties, the girl and her bullies, should face repercussions.

It's Mandeville. 100% they won't. The bullies' parents are probably on the city council.

Since you couldn't be bothered to read the statute - 40.1. B.(1) Menacing is the intentional communication of information that the commission of a crime of violence.

Seems pretty clear to me.

What crime did the "tormentors" commit?

I'll wait.

Or are you suggesting punishing people who did not commit a crime?

I know that making fun of someone isn't illegal. Making a list of people you want to kill in a school, on the other hand, is illegal.

Sounds like the right person got punished here.

The story doesn't say she intentionally communicated anything. Menacing doesn't fit.

You don’t know that’s all that happened. Just STFU.
