Well, Jojo wouldn't apologize for the monkey in her music video (at least I don't think she ever did). So, I'm guessing this is her way to pander and try to get back on the radar.
My youngest has a few of her unicorn things, but she doesn't know who she is because we've never seen anything she's in. And she won't.

I’m 10 minutes in to a YouTube dive of the real JoJo and realized my 7th grade crush was legit and she has a phenomenal natural voice.
