Good to hear. We have a large warehouse with a damn near perfect slab poured over 25 years ago done by a black business and crew.

Actually, it was usually women who did that job. At least I’m the 1600s during plague times. I can’t remember for the Middle Ages. They were usually old cronish women and it was their job to report how people died. If I remember correctly, they were absolutely loathed

Black concrete finishers and black masonry guys have always been top notch guys.
My great grandfather's fireplace and chimney still looks amazing... The house has been gone for 40 years.

Shreveport has 2 that I know of. Line Avenue near Pierremont and the corner of Pierremont and Kings.

The conductor rides on the engine now.
The head brakeman, rear brakeman and fireman are all gone however.

Jobs you don't see anymore
Maintenance Optimizers in plants. They'd allocate the best resources to the biggest needs etc etc.
This is much mo better handled by fancy planning and scheduling maintenance software now.
Payroll clerks. There'll always be someone in payroll but it's often a manager of the dept who also handles any manual checks/expense reports b/c paperwork is so minimal now.
Typists/transcribers self explanatory.

My first ever job as a teen was a full service gas station attendant. It was a rare thing in 1998 already.
I think only New Jersey still has them.
Massachusetts has them. I believe its actually unionized there

Oregon and New Jersey banned pumping your own gas for years. They recently lifted that ban in some circumstances.

Yeah certain states still have them. I haven’t seen one in Alabama in a long time. There was one down on the corner where I grew up that my mom always used. And it was a legit service station, before the convenience store model took off. She’d roll in with a van full of kids and they’d pump the gas, clean the windshield, check the oil and fluids and top off the washer fluid. Check air pressure. Now it’s all about pay at the pump and come in to see the 42 flavors of soft drinks and load up on snacks.
