They do. I went there on vacation and didn't know that.
I went to a gas station and was repeatedly ramming my debit card in the slot and getting super pissed it was rejecting me. Some kid came over and punched his code in, then let me pump my own.
It was probably because I was all mad over being rejected, he just let me do my own thing. I learned after that they have a state law that mandates no self service.

It's a job creation law. Forces businesses to hire completely unnecessary workers. fricking un-American if you ask me.
Mom and pop gas stations need full time pump operators just to exist. It'd be like forcing fast casual restaurants to have someone operate the self-service soda fountain for no reason.
