So I interview for a job a while back that would be a big career jump for me. It's the position I set my sights on a long time ago.
Well time goes by and I stay in contact with the owner of the company. He tells me the position is mine and to hold tight because he wants to hire one other person just before me to help with training. Ok, a couple of months go by and we still keep in contact every couple of weeks. Well last week he called and asked if I was ready and that he needs me in Baltimore on the 28th.
Sure thing, I'm ready. He says good and he'll get me an offer letter and we can take things for on there. That was on Tuesday. By Thursday I still have no offer letter. He's texting me about some other things and I casually mention that I need the offer so I can give a proper 2 weeks notice. He said he's getting his secretary right on it. It's now end of Monday and I still don't have the letter. At this point I'm getting pretty pissed because it's drug out so long. On top of that, I've made arrangements to ensure everything is taken care of with my kid if I'm going out of town for him and he knows that.

It shows a lack of respect and I'm not certain I want to work for this guy anymore. However, I really want the position. How should I handle it? Do I reach out again or just wait and see if/when he gets back to me?

Well first of all, is he stringing you along for some reason?

Second of all, if you want the position, he kind of has you over a barrel.

Give him a deadline to get an offer to you.

If he misses that deadline, be prepared to walk away.

If this many red-flags are raised BEFORE you have the job, then just think about what might come after you get it - if you ever do.

It sounds like he's just trying to get in your pants.

My suggestion is for you to not put out but tease him a little bit.

Things take time. He'll make an offer or he won't.

I'm not reading all that shite. But you should have asked for more money and done a better job of maintaining eye contact in the interview.

Maybe he's just really busy, and wants to make sure your offer letter is complete and doesn't leave anything out. He could be waiting on approval for benefits for vacation, company car, etc.

Maybe he's just jerking you around.

Only one way to find out. Grab your puppy nuts and make it happen, politely and respectfully, of course.

It's a very bad sign if he's already not taking care of your requests. Don't ask a third time and if any more time passes, graciously decline his offer.

Maybe stop texting him like a baby back bitch and pick up the phone and give the motherfricker an ultimatum.

Well you've made the correct first step by asking Tigerdroppings for advice. After handling step one so well, I don't think you need anyone's help here. You've got it, hoss!

Best advice

If he really wants you he will understand this strategy if he gets offended and has disrespected so far, no big loss.

Ive Talked to him on the phone and in face numerous times, not concerned about that.
I do know he's extremely busy and gets pulled in many different directions, I've seen it first hand. That's the only reason I've let this drag out this far. At this point, I think I'll call him tomorrow and lay it all out.
I just got an offer from another company and interviewing with another. His job is top on my list, but I'm not passing on the offer I have if he can't give me something.

I wouldn't want to work for anybody who conducts business via text message habitually.

I wouldn't call him with any demands. You asked twice already. If you demand a letter by a certain date, then he'll give you the letter by that date. What you want to know is if you really want to work for this guy. The only way to tell that is sit and see what he does with the requests you already have him. If he's too busy for you now, working for him will be no different.

If I started a thread titled "Got a girl pregnant, sort of like her, should I ask to marry?" I'm sure the advice would be excellent.
