I've never been to the islands and I'm looking for some knowledge.

I know it's expensive, but it comes with a COLA uplift on top of the salary. I'm not married and have very little family, so the move is "easier" for me than some. I'm under the impression that this is an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up. Am I wrong?

As long as the CoL increase doesn't impact your current quality of life, I'd say go for it, especially being single.

Advice....If it doesnt go well, interviewing for your next job in person will be expensive and difficult. Always be thinking of an exit strategy before you enter.

If it doesn't break you (money wise) do it. The islands are wonderful and being single you will never get the chance again. Go to the other islands when you get a chance, Honolulu is the least special place in that entire island chain.

shite, I would. If the CoL uplift matches what it would cost to live there, why wouldn't you? Constant influx of new womenz every few days.

What are the prospects on returning in a few years if you find it isn't for you?

Go.

Hawaii is awesome. Do it for 2-3 years and come back.

Natives can be pretty shitty to mainlanders in my experience

Returning is always an option, as long as I find a job/employer that is willing help me cover the cost of relocation.

Just know getting back to the continental US takes 5+ hours and isn't cheap. Factor that into whatever budget you build for family/friend events/weddings.

I'd do it if the job has trajectory and business has solid growth performance. YOLO
