Well that lends credence to the post above this one…why introduce new candidates into the “pipeline” if you’re “their guy”?
They’re waiting for a unicorn while keeping you as a plan B. If you really hate your current job I guess you could continue with this, but just understand that they’re looking for someone else and the only way you get an offer is if they don’t find exactly what they’re looking for.

Cumbersome interview processes are the most meaningful red flags you can find in a company. They are being disrespectful of your time - tactfully tell them to shite or get off the pot, the interview goes both ways.

Six interviews signals that the company has difficult making easy decisions. If they have issues making easy decisions, imagine the bureaucracy that goes into making difficult decisions within the company. Just go ahead and walk away now.

Pass on it. Stay with the equity. Take the money and run. Theyre throwing a bigger salary at you.
You dont know the environment there. Tip: keep your pay statements when the equity is vested. It'll show you what taxes you paid. I had to use those statements to prove I had paid taxes to the IRS. Saved me a lot of money, and the IRS went away.

The issue is that the VPs and hiring manager want me but the founder is way too involved and nitpicky

You answered your own question time to move along

I would laugh if they told me I needed to have six interviews. What a ridiculous waste of my time and their time. frick that

They also chatted with me on Christmas Eve and the recruiter was working until like 9pm on a Friday LOL
You will be expected to do the same.

Exactly.
If they love people it could be over in 2 interviews.
This is a pre-IPO, It's not like JPMorgan or Google where they have layers of bureaucracy and HR.
There's no reason to think these "earlier in the pipeline" people couldn't win fast.
I lost a job application where I was the runner up, took them 3 months and multiple interviews to tell me that they were negotiating with the eventual winner.

You can get on with any of the MAG 7/FAANG in way less than 6 interviews.
3 is about the absolute max I'd be willing to do. 2 should be sufficient. If they can't get the correct people in the room to make a decision in 2 or 3 interviews, they don't know what the frick they are doing and I would end the process.

can't believe in this woke day and age that any company is even attempting this, these days it's if you are anything other than a white male and can fog up a mirror(sometimes that's waivable,) you're hired

I think the founder is a micromanager

Didn’t you say your current job has politics?
Sounds like you’re trying to jump into even more of that and layer on ridiculous levels of bureaucracy and micromanagement….serious question, does it seem like the hiring manager would be able to properly insulate you from the crazy founder lady?
I can see this at a large corporation but a start up? How much does your current job suck?

Six interviews and the last one 3 hours? I’m obviously not in a professional occupation, but, in my opinion, this is extreme overkill. If they don’t know by the 3rd, of might even say the 4th, then I would cut bait and run…..just my opinion. Good luck whatever you decide.

If she’s this involved in a hire (assuming she won’t be your direct manager), then imagine her involvement in key projects.
