That's an old interview but good. He's got a million stories. Cornys podcast is the best wrestling podcast out. Because his content is that good I excuse him for being full of TDS.

It is wild how so many people thought that shite was real. We would sometimes go see Mid-South in Loranger which is as back woods and country as it gets back in the late 70's -80's. I was 12-13 years old and I knew it was fake. We would go around back of the building and watch the wrestlers come out and get in their cars. It was so obvious. You had good guys and bad guys riding together. Yet some of these idiots thought it was real.

Every man, woman and child in our country parish, other than my family, believed it 100%. I had kids and even a grown man scream at me for saying it was fake.
Even as a child, I knew that if a 250 pound man stomped another man in the face a few times, or pounded him in the face with a bare fist, it would leave damage he couldn’t just shake off. LOL.

Jim was in his early to mid 20’s by the time we was pushing the heat on the likes of the Midnight Express in Atlanta and midsouth and Memphis. He was doing it with Rip Oliver in Dallas. Very few managers at that age could hang with the lies of Jimmy Hart, Heenan, Freddie B, and Percy Pringle/Paul Bearer but he could. He’s an anomaly of wrestling. The fact that he was able to take two very average looking wrestlers in Eaton and Condrey (two great wrestlers make no mistake) and get them heat with the Road Warriors as the heels…and of course the RNR Express speaks to how great he was at his job.

I love the old school JR when he’s looking like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man
And yes, Cornette has SEVERE TDS, but I look past it when he’s just talking about wrestling and telling stories.

He was just 22/23 when Terry Funk found a sissy. He was so good as a heel manager during those days.

Bobby Eaton was from the same neighborhood in Huntsville, AL as a lot of my family. My great aunt and great grandmother (especially my aunt) were huge wrestling fans. My Pops was a couple years older than Bobby.
My great aunt and great grandmother would feed a bunch of the wrestlers when they'd come through. They'd do their laundry and let them sleep on a couch or just in their vehicles out front of their houses if there was no room. They'd actually change up each time between heels and faces so they wouldn't be seen together, but that didn't always work.
Bobby started hanging around the event center and helping with the ring ans just running errands. He'd hit the ring and mess around when he got the chance. Bobby was a hell of an athlete and took to wrestling. Pops would tell the story about when Tojo approached Bobby's Mom about letting him take Bobby on the road and train him. I think Bobby was like 15 or 16. She emphatically said "NO!". Bobby kept working on her and Tojo promised her he would make sure Bobby did schoolwork and would graduate. I believe he did, but wrestling was all he ever wanted to do.
They all kept coming around to the house and neighborhood every time they were in town. My aunt never missed a show.
Bobby was a great wrestler and one of the legitimately good guys in the business.
