Lawler was charged with sodomy for having sex with a 13 year old in 1993. He certainly wasn't checking IDs during his prime in the 70s and 80s.

Grizz was extremely well connected in the Mid South territory. My guess is that he knew who else liked them young and used that to keep a lot of shite running smoothly for himself and the business.

He had enough connections in Louisiana well after Mid South / UWF went bust to keep his other son, Sam Houston, regularly out of trouble for DUIs until one judge pulled Sam’s history and found about 20 of them that had been dismissed.

Not that Lawler probably didn’t like them young (seemed to be a thing for the Memphis guys) but that particular set of charges got dismissed because the girl claimed to have been making it up to get attention.

Didn’t stop his cousin, Honky Tonk Man, from making Chester The Molester jokes about him for years afterward.

I usually am less-sensitive than others when people make excuses for their POS behavior, but in Jake’s case I kind of get it Dude went through a horrendous up bringing that probably fricked him up bad.

Hell, Vader almost caused an international incident when some Kuwati talk show host asked if it is fake.

Vader is on the short list of dudes I would’ve never wanted to be on their bad side in real life (not just wrestling). He was a scary person.

Leon worked literally everyone in the ring stiff. I can imagine fighting him for real would be no fun at all.

Him and Hansen going at it in Japan when he knocked Vader’s eye out is one of the best stiff/brawl performances ever.

It’s choreographed just like stunts in movies, but implying it’s totally fake you are insinuating no one gets injured

I remember following wrestling as a child and one day I was driving with my mom on the outskirts of town and we saw two town cars pull over, and a bunch of wrestlers get out. I went ape shite! It wasn't until years later that I found out that they had pulled over so all of the heels could get in one car and the babyfaces in the other.

I don’t agree with his politics or atheism, but I have to say he is the most knowledgeable wrestling historian and I’ve ever heard. On YouTube he also has Omni buses on different things and they are fantastic.

Around 1984 or so, my dad brought me and a bunch of friends to the Centroplex (River Center) for Mid-South Wrestling. One of my friends hit Jim Cornette in the head with a wadded up bag of popcorn. After, we went to the parking lot to see the wrestlers come out.

Cornette, the Midnight Express and the Rock & Roll Express (mortal enemies) all piled into the same POS ragged out Cadillac with Tennessee license plates. Turns out, Cornette was not rich at all, and that's how I found out wrestling was fake!
