Meh, the Tesla P85D is the American car game changer

Clarkson is no fan of most things not British. Top Gear was always more about the stunts than actual technical accuracy too. These are not people who understand the engineering and it goes along with much of their target audience.

These car "experts" don't always know wtf they are doing. When I was deciding between the A8 and M7 on my Vette, I watched a lot of videos. One car show had its "expert" host running 0-60 times in the manual. He ran several runs with launch control on and then off, and he couldn't get a single run under 5 seconds. Then one of the Chevy engineers ran it, beating him on the first attempt but still above 5 seconds. In my car, on my very FIRST attempt with no launch control and a crappy start, I ran a 4.5. Easily beat that on later attempts, and still far from the cars full potential (i.e. 3.9).

Fair enough. My old man bought one off the showroom floor in 1981 (no comparison to today, I'm sure) but I don't really remember anything more than taking a couple rides in it (two-seater, so not much of a place for a toddler). I haven't ridden in or driven one as an adult.

For some reason Brits have this idea we build the Vette to compete with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston. When in reality it's price point is designed to compete with Porsche
In England, the current Z06 is priced right about where a brand new 911 Turbo/Audi R8 V10/AMG GTS is. Let that sink in and then maybe you'll understand Jezza's point.
I understand that a lot of the vitriol is part of his shtick about putting American cars on blast but he has a point here.

He sold it a long time ago because it kept a breaking.

Why? It's a $118,000 car that can hang with and possibly beat cars that cost 3 to 5 x's as much. It also won't go into limp mode after being hot lapped. In terms of performance, it'll be hard to beat. The old ACR still holds the #2 time for production cars around the Nurburgring...this one has more power, better suspension, and almost double the down force.
Because no one is buying the new Viper, sales were so horrible they had to discount them $15k to move any.
That old ACR that ran that time, while Stout, was setup specifically to run that time. Dodge had 8 engineers on site to manipulate the suspension. The toe in was so aggressive you couldn't drive it the street. Not sure if you have ever driven one but not something you want to commute or spend several hours inside.

More to do with the import company than Ford. See the F150 Lightning episode for reference.

I wouldn't want to spend several hours at a time in most any super car or race car. They aren't built to be comfortable. Is this really a criticism?

Doesn't change the fact it's $100,000+ less than its competitors and can be driven in off the street and put down record times. It's a performance bargain. No one commutes in super cars, that's not what they're for.

I am not saying corvettes haven't greatly improved and aren't competitive however you will never earn a Europeans respect unless it is mid engine. We are viewed purely as drag racers and that's all the corvette was for a really long time. I love corvettes my dad has never not had at least one since the day I was born including now. All I am trying to say is that you can't expect for some guy who drives or drove I guess quarter million dollar cars for a living to give what they think is the redneck of muscle a whole lot of credit. I was not speaking matter of fact I was more speaking from the opinion that I have heard countless corvette bashers bitch about and it wasn't frat boys bitching two of them own ferraris and the other two own high end 911's.

This simply isn't true, despite what your outdated prejudices think

Came here thinking Jeremy Clarkson took a shite on a car. Needless to say I was sadly mistaken.

Yep. I'm pretty sure the Vette and Ferrari share the same suspension.

Mag ride is the greatest invention ever for a sports/ touring car.
