A city would have to put its personnel into place if the parade were taking place it's not just the risk to citizens, who can volunteer it's the risk to city personnel and potential lawsuits
Just declare the parade routes mandatory evacuation zones. Ignore at your own risk. Anything happens, they'll try to retrieve the bodies after the hubbub subsides.

As a whole Mardi Gras season, that may be true, but Mardi Gras Day in Metairie is still a big deal. Yes Argus and the trucks suck, but it’s still a large turnout.

Fifty three years ago, on Sunday, Feb. 1, 1970, a sad chapter was recorded in Mardi Gras history. Bad weather had postponed the Alla parade to Tuesday night, and the Okeanos parade was halted after one mile because of rain. But Krewe of Carrollton members voted to parade, betting that the weather would clear, which it did eventually.

Then, out of nowhere, a mini-tornado appeared, striking a Carrollton float as it traveled over the Jefferson Davis Parkway overpass. Peter Latino Sr., president of the club, was tossed 35 feet to the railroad tracks below next to the Pontchartrain Expressway, resulting in his eventual death.

The U.S. Weather Bureau reported gusts of more than 70 mph at the time. Also, four police officers were temporarily trapped under a float, and several band members were injured.

Looks like other parades are rescheduled for the weekend after Mardi Gras.

The Elks Orleanians and Crescent City parades that usually follow Zulu and Rex will reportedly now take place on the weekend after Fat Tuesday.

She totally ruined everything that was different about metairie. Fat city is crap now. Parades are crap now.
Only huge positive is their mall is thriving when it used to be the shitty mall.

There is no chance Zulu starts at 7

Although I’ll say in recent years the biggest reason for Zulu problems have been their marchers.
