Tough talk. Now back it up. He says stuff like this and it feels like politics talking more than anything. I commend him if he does something... But he has a history of doing stuff like this.

It’s a good soundbite but the shootings will continue. This state has little hope unless black culture changes.

I agree with him. I am so tired of violence. Especially violence that affects innocent people. Tired of going soft. This behavior should not be tolerated.

Nothing is going to change. Things are already back to business as usual. A friend who works in the OLOL ER told me yesterday that they treated 5 gunshot wounds and 3 stab wounds Saturday night.

He's great at grandstanding, and look at me sound bites and vid clips - I'll give him that.

He'll probably bring Omar back to patrol the
Food Court.
Food Court.

Completely agree.

Not a big fan of Landry
What seems to be forgotten is that Jeff Landry was Attorney General for 8 years. Landry was successful at one thing, Political advancement, that's it.
There was no public corruption reform during his tenure.
There is no clear evidence Louisiana saw sustained statewide crime reductions attributed to the AG office during his tenure.
There was no insurance fraud crackdowns.
Coastal/environmental settlement enforcement (well, its obvious Landry's position here).
Yelling into a microphone at a press conference is not actionable.
Louisiana needs a viable candidate for Governor in 2027.

This sounds like it was dubbed by DJ Rhett.

people can't remember shite these days and the people in power know and love it. Just gotta keep pivoting to the next thing and your base licks your boots

I have disagreed with Landry on many things, but not this. If a person can't function safely in society, they should be removed from society. That is what jails are for.

He was a hell of a lot more impressive than Coach Don't Stereotype was, on Thursday.
I'm sorry, Sid- but this isn't a high school classroom- and everyone knows what's happening here. And I would hope everyone knows throwing more money at this problem won't make it go away.

What direct power does the governor have on state court judges or DAs?

Dims rallying behind "he put guns on streets"

Exactly, First impression I got was I liked him - he was going after JBE which I was fine with as soon as JBE threatened LSU if we didn't pass his tax plan.
But then in became blatantly obvious that his attacks really weren't principled they were for affect to get his name out there and run for Governor. In fact, the feud became almost cartoonish with Landry being Foghorn Leghorn.
If anything the self-aggrandization has been amplified as Gov. Too many examples to name. Even when I agree with him he comes across to me as promoting himself.
quote:The Republicans really should look at running a viable candidate against him. I'm sure he was hoping to have pimped himself enough for a Presidential run coming up but I think he's messed that up perception-wise - so he'll be running again.

Will not happen.
A good, legit Republican leader may get talked into challenging him, but the party base, especially the LA GOP, is going to stand behind and support re-electing Gov. Landry.

Yeah, I know they aren't going to - just hoping against hope. Tough to beat a sitting Governor, but he has pissed off a good slice of the Republican base with his brazen self-promotion.
