he could buy a professional sports franchise with 1 day's earning in his amazon stock. unreal.

if that happened to me, i'd buy the braves and donated a cool 1 billion to the Georgia Tech athletic association so that they could hire Nick Saban as the head janitor.

I'm willing to bet that money doesn't really do it for him anymore. At this point its about building his empire and name.

Not really. If he tried to liquidate those shares into cash, he would tank the stock price to some degree.

I guess he could buy the sports team in Amazon shares

No he is not. Not even close. Rockefellor's net worth adjust for inflation was $340 billion dollars at the time of his death.

Come on Jeff just pay off the two years left on my truck note and I would only resort to amazon and Whole Foods until the day I die. Hell, I’ll even cancel my Netflix and throw away my Apple TV.

He would need to sell 798,084 shared to raise a billion dollars. Average daily volume is 3.494 million shares

Bezos is filthy rich, but not really that rich from a historical perspective. His wealth (as most billionaires now) is not physical.

I really doubt that's true. There are folks who've been accruing interest for over 700 years.

And yet Bezos and Gates could pool their fortunes together and still not have enough money to buy William Randolph Heart's castle.

Even more impressive is that the stock only moved 1.4% to get him there.

He's made a little more than $525k per minute, every minute of 2018 so far.
