JEB Stuart was shot 162 years ago today at the Battle of Yellow Tavern. He died the next day at Richmond, Virginia. He was 31 years-old.
Stuart's grandfather was Judge Alexander M. Stuart of St. Louis County, a former Speaker of the Missouri State House of Representatives.

A guy I know did his family tree. He's a big CSA history fan and has often said that descendants of slave owners have no reason to be ashamed. That was over 100 years ago and not them personally.
Turns out he's a direct descendant of Private John A. Huff of Company E, 5th Michigan Cavalry.
Who is that? Huff is widely credited with firing the .44-caliber revolver shot that mortally wounded J.E.B. Stuart on May 11, 1864.
Now dude is all ashamed and won't even go to Civil War round table meetings any more.

I did mine and one of my relatives helped lead a skirmish that resulted in the occupation of my wife’s home town.
Dude was on the historical marker she’d had to learn about on a field trip when she was in school.
Super awkward.

I went to the university of Alabama and Stonewall Jackson was painted on my wall, wasn’t trying to troll just sharing what I thought was a funny story.

I had no idea that this name was still around, but I did a little digging today and you’ll all be happy to know that we are on to JEB VII. What an incredible feat for that name to hold.

That is who killed him. Huff himself was killed before that war ended.

I hardly consider myself woke, but all of these Lost Cause threads over the last few days are getting to be kind of old.
And it's really basically a Lost Cause thread, both because you know how Tigerdroppings will respond, and because the OPs are always basically from the CSA perspective. Always about a Confederate (rather than Union) general who died or how many losses the South had in a given battle.

You do know this website is comprised of mostly southerners, right?

And JEB Stuart High School in NOVA was disgracefully renamed a handful of years ago.

Rolltide1987 does a great job at giving both north and south perspective and if anything, at least on here, comes across more “biased” to the north. Not saying he is, I think he’s just being honest. And he posts probably 90% of civil war battle threads.
