Could we somehow just close the college bars and those on Bourbon Street and let the neighborhood bars stay open?

Precisely. Biden will engage JBE starting in late August/September to start bashing trump. Saying he followed the White House guidelines and it backfired. Now he has to lock down his state again because trumps phased reopening failed Louisiana. All politics at this point at the cost of constituents livelihoods.

Sigh. Having that hour everyday to just myself is so important to my mental state. JBE may not care bout being healthy but I do.

I finally got all my stuff in and have a halfway decent garage gym now. My wife thought I was crazy ordering it saying I’d never use it and that they’d never close down gyms again. It’s not the same but does provide some mental relief and stress reduction

Unrealistic: Phase 3 and mask order going way.

Most optimistic (but low chance): Restoration of previous phase 2 - but with masks

Partially optimistic (probably still low chance): Bars with food permits allowed to re-open, since those weren't a problem in phase 1.

Partially optimistic (probably still low chance): Regional approach going forward. Bars stay closed in regions 2 (Baton Rouge), 4 (Lafayette) and region 5 (Lake Charles) - as these areas are all above 80% ICU utilization. The others go can go back to full phase 2.

Expected: Remain in modified phase 2 for 2 more weeks.

Unexpected bad: Back to full phase 1 or utilize new WH "Hot zone" guidelines, which would be back to phase 1 for restaurants and gyms fully closed.

"Bars open to 50% capacity or a maximum of 25 people"

Corner taverns would do just fine, the maximum extent of an outbreak would be limited, and the more "club-like" bars would not be that viable with that few people in them.

JBE's restrictions are doing more harm than the virus ever will. We're making COVID into a much bigger deal than it deserves.

I'd be sheltering in place if this were a super contagious ebola, but that's not what we're dealing with here.

And, yes, I do believe this virus was manufactured in the Wuhan lab. Whether it was intended to get out or not, I do not know, but I do know that the people with an agenda are milking this for everything it is worth to reform society, strip our economic freedoms, and scare us so that we will conform.

I will never buy this as the "new normal." I hate that phrase because it implies permanence, and nothing about this should be permanent.

If JBE announces we’re going back to Phase 1, RIGHT BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS, all holy hell is gonna break loose. He’s gonna get slammed from every govt official in the state.

Parents are already F’d with the schooling situation. Phase 1, will royally Fuk us schoolage parents up.

It is statistically possible to have a disease (X) that would drive 0.1% of the population to need ICU care, crushing that system, and the majority of the population would not know a single person that would be there. Not saying COVID is that disease, just pointing out how humans perceive low percentages, the dual nature of which can lead to the same number being both huge and insignificant depending on your perception.

ICU percentage is a terrible metric to go off of. It's beds that are currently allocated to being ICU. Any person with knowledge of hospitals will tell you, that they can easily expand if they need to.

Any regime that refuses to focus on recovery percentages is manipulating the information for ulterior motives. If the argument is going to be ICU beds, then we should shut down the economy for hurricane season, and regular flu leaving the economy to be open for maybe 2 months of the year?

Especially if your kid is a private school kid and those schools are planning to be in person 5 days a week! I am not so sure jobs will be as understanding as they were in March when the stay at home order happened.
