I just don’t see what rolling back restrictions is going to do at this point. To me it’s just delaying the inevitable. And fricking a lot of small business owners over in the process.

We need to let this virus with less than a 1% death rate run it’s course. By enacting restrictions and new laws, nothing happens but delaying cases.

It sounds like you may not know very many people.

This was never statistically improbable. The reasonable concern has always been that our treatment capacity is optimized toward having a very, very, minute percentage of the population sucking up resources at the same time. Somehow this goal post got shifted and contorted 10 different ways.

Even using the "worst case" numbers that were being thrown out at the beginning: 20% hospitalization rate, 2% CFR, knowing (or being) someone who knows a half dozen people who haven't had a bad case would not have been too unexpected. Knowing 30 people who had it, with none of them dying, would not be too out of whack either. This is even without considering that these numbers were way higher than truth given the lack of testing available.

For Louisiana: ICU capacity is 2056 total people (LDH website) or 0.04% of our population.

It is statistically possible to have a disease (X) that would drive 0.1% of the population to need ICU care, crushing that system, and the majority of the population would not know a single person that would be there. Not saying COVID is that disease, just pointing out how humans perceive low percentages, the dual nature of which can lead to the same number being both huge and insignificant depending on your perception.

You can’t sit in a bar a drink but go to a casino and sit and drink totally fine. It’s ridiculous how they pick and choose what business they want to survive

At least there was logic to follow because bars were proving to be a disproportionate source of spread, but gyms haven't. No need to close them unless there's a bih change in the contact tracing data

Can someone post the bar chart of how Bars are responsible for a high % of spread and Gyms aren’t?

This right here is what’s so infuriating. What’s the end game here? And once this thing is gone and we’ve killed small business in this state, what’s Gov Boucher gonna do then? Blame trump?
