A few of my clients outsource to DXC (and HP before).
The language barrier and time difference between US and India make projects with them a pain in the arse.

2000 jobs at even a high average salary of 60k would be like, what, $5 increase in the price of oil holding above that for a year?
What a terrible way to look at this

Everyone was ecstatic when Elio Motors came to Louisiana ... oh, wait ...

Which is why they are beginning to 'onshore' alot of their work back to the states in low(er) cost locations. Moving work to India isn't as profitable at it once was in the 90's-early 00s

I wonder where this will be. Moldy crescent city tower?

This board is never satisfied.

DXC and IBM will bring a lot of temporary workers, but they will bring them at least. It's better than nothing, which is what Elio ultimately is.
There is a vacant automobile plant sitting in Louisiana that can't be marketed to real car companies because of some deal with Elio?

You are just figuring that out? I have never understood the propensity of LA people on a LSU board to run down everything about the state. Catholic guilt is the only thing I can figure out.

Are they going to move India to the work or actually develop local talent?
Louisiana desperately needs the latter.

id hope that was a condition of them coming here...bolster the CS departments at the local universities with a pipeline to being hired.
obviouly they will have to fill many of these positions with out of state hires and out of country hires as well.

How did GE capital work out?

Hey man, that's the third tallest building in the state. So what if it's empty. A little mold remediation here, some asbestos abatement there, and it's good to go.
Posted on 11/13/17 at 12:09 pm to tgrbaitn08
It will almost assuredly not be used as a shipyard anymore. Possibly converted to a terminal facility of some sort. There have been rumors of a new container terminal in the works but I doubt Avondale is the spot for that

They exited financial services in 2015 but kept GE Tech jobs in NOLA. And last I checked the tech apprentice program with the Nola schools was still going.
