Like all economic development announcements. The devils in the details.

As a Network Engineer, this makes me feel optimistic. With O&G being down I've been looking at other cities very closely.

Disagree. These will be decent paying white collar office jobs for those with some basic technology training.
That's just not what this company does. It's an out sourcing firm. This is what they do.
Dude, I know what DXC does... more than anyone on TD.
Yes, it will attract and probably bring in many from India (bc thats the people who are the experts), but they wouldn't move to a place like nola without a plan to build up the local employee base.
They did this same thing in Bossier City in 2014.

No question, NOLA has to take what it can get. A net gain of 2,000 gainfully employed people is going to help further the very slow process of reclaiming and redeveloping neighborhoods that have been rotting for 60 years or so. It's pretty amazing some of the neighborhoods that are being gentrified right now.
If only we had a better mayor and city council. We need less destruction of art and more economic development.

so they'll move from one third world country to another third world country?

that and its a sanctuary city

What? That's exactly what's happening today. An economic development announcement. And to my knowledge, they haven't announced a project of this size from a single-source.
Projects and companies fail all the time. It's nothing unique to Louisiana.

“Congress cannot compel the States to enact or enforce a federal regulatory program. Today we hold that Congress cannot circumvent that prohibition by conscripting the State's officers directly. The Federal Government may neither issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States' officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program. It matters not whether policymaking is involved, and no case by case weighing of the burdens or benefits is necessary; such commands are fundamentally incompatible with our constitutional system of dual sovereignty.”

I guess what I find funny is how that's worded to make it seem like this is bigger than it is. Single employer. Single location. Single move. In the history... or as long as "announcements" of these things existed.

2,000 jobs announcements don't happen that often, and outside of the heavy-mfg sector, typically aren't coming from one company.
So from that standpoint, it's pretty significant.

2000 jobs at even a high average salary of 60k would be like, what, $5 increase in the price of oil holding above that for a year?
It's just WAY overblown.

I've pretty much just come to the conclusion that this board loves to shite on most of Louisiana, especially New Orleans.

I don't know the details re jobs (number, location, salary, etc.) and it's still possible we'll be disappointed. But to blow this off is pretty short-sighted. If even half of the promised jobs materialize in NOLA, that's a big boost.
