I agree with your post about implications about release of under sized fish and subsequent mortalities, which applies to bow fishing and normal spot fishing practices. However, also consider that bow under sized fish handling and release mortalities would be less than from traditional sport fishermen because of the fishing effort differences.

I was in a joint owned salt water fishing camp near Catfish Lake in Lafourche Parish and have experienced lower catch rates of both red drum and spotted seatrout in the upper marsh. Habitat nursery habitat loss for red drum, spotted seatrout, and other species are a significant factor.

P.S. I have a retired marine biologist with the State with a MS degree in Fisheries Science with LSU.
Thank you for your instructions that will be helpful to everyone. However, your attitude to loyal LSU fans, especially senior citizens, is immature.

Low Vision Binoculars

Posted by BayouTiger71 on 4/4/23 at 8:12 pm
I hunt in dense woods and vision at near sunrise and after sunset is limited. I have adequate hunting scopes and binoculars and we have reasonable limits on bucks. But it is difficult to count points or antler size in very low light situations.

I would like to upgrade my current binoculars (perhaps to night vision) with reasonable cost to allow me to better judge bucks in low light situations during legal shooting hours at relatively close distances. Any recommendations?
Yes, do not scream at your children during a game. I coached my children for many years in various youth sports, but when I did not I never yelled at them.

However, do not make fun of the “back elbow” up. Great hitters generally start their swing with their elbows parallel to the ground, weight on their back foot, and first finger knuckles aligned.
According to the web site, the weights (hull only probably) are 50 and 70 lbs for the M10 and M11 models.
Congratulations! I will pick up my M11 creek boat next week with the trolling motor package from a dealer in El Dorado, ARK.
The creek boats have an excellent reputation, and the demand is very high.

This morning I ordered a lithium battery because of their substantially lower weight, as well as a heavy duty kayak cart.

A significant advantage of creek boats over kayaks is the higher seat, which is a blessing for senior citizens.
Periodic net failures in the menhaden fishery do occur, and large fish kills of menhaden and sport fish may occur. However, bycatch expansion data in the shrimp fishery substantially exceeds bycatch in the menhaden fishery.

Sport fishermen should address both fisheries.

But everyone, including me, loves eating shrimp, and ignores the impacts of the shrimp fishery bycatch.

I am a senior citizen happily married, but I remember several years the O_T recommended Target for meeting good lucking women.
As usual, you submit comments that are not based on science or other data.
I challenge you to exchange my education and work experience to yours? I doubt that you will reply.
I voted for Joe Orgeron in the last election as Jerry Giscliar was termed out because he was a conservative.

In addition to his sponsored menhaden legislation, he also introduced legislation to facilitate offshore wind / solar power legislation while owning a company related to such.

This may be an ethics violation.
As a resident of Lafourche Parish, I voted for Joe Orgeron because he was an educated conservative. I admit that I regret my vote. In the 2022 session he introduced a bill to facilitate offshore wind power, and he owns a related company.

His menhaden legislation if passed may bankrupt two menhaden companies which provided income to hundreds of employees in the devastated coastal LA economy.

All the commenters about the negative impacts of the menhaden fishery is speculative and not documented by research on menhaden bycatch and the implications on sport fish.

I commented on the proposed 2O21 menhaden bill and provided the available scientific bycatch data, and I was called an idiot, a moron, and a paid shill for the the menhaden industry. All were false.

I am more concerned about the impacts of the shrimp fishery bycatch on sport fishery populations and the estuarine ecosystem.

I grew up in central Louisiana, attended LSU, and then lived in south Louisiana (Lafourche Parish) for 45 years and now retired. I loved the area and especially the saltwater fishing; unfortunately, our fishing camp just north of Catfish Lake only has pilings left after Hurricane Ida and our home flooded plus had substantial roof damage.

We are closing on a home five miles east of Pineville near Libuse. I will be closer to my deer hunting, but I would like to start small steam or creek fishing for spotted bass and other centrachids in the Kisatchie National Forest near the Red Dirt WMA and north of Pineville. Any suggestions? I am not asking for honey holes, but general advice would be appreciated. PM me if you would prefer.

I am a retired marine fisheries biologist from the Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries, and follow all rules and regulations and do not litter.

Thank you for any guidance.
