Out of curiosity, do you do the ones where the homeowner is in the home and you're just renting a room? Or the one where you rent a whole space?

Never done one with shared living space. Have done guest houses and duplexes where the owner was in their main house, but nothing really where we interacted with anyone living there other than to get and return the key.

Clearly, you would not like it.

I've already stated that I would not like a popular Airbnb next to my house.

That's the main issue to liberals.

that was a fair reply, thank you.

You always seemed to me to be someone who was not a hypocrite, so I'm glad to see that response.

I don't want a rent house next to my house, much less some "rent by the day or week" place. It would be hypocritical of me to oppose those who fight Airbnb type companies.

Wow, that was uncalled for. While our opinions may differ, I believe that discussion of opposing viewpoints improves a thread.

I can not want a short term renter next to my house and believe that they have the right to do it at the same time

I don't like the giant wooden eagle my neighbor currently has in his front yard, but I'm not going to cry to the city for him to remove it. Its his yard. He has the right to put whatever stupid shite he wants in it.

Stock up on good beer that they can't get at the local grocer.
Leave a flyer on their door with your fairly marked up prices for said beer.
Profit.

Thats the main issue to most people even the old money white republicans who live up town and complain about the Air BnB on their street. If a business is effectively operating as a full time hotel/bnb it should be regulated as such.

He's talking about the fact that you're a dude pretending to be a woman on a message board populated by mostly men. They engage you as if you're a woman, leading to a complete derailment of the thread, much like your mental state, crazy train.

A decade of sympathy from literally EVERYONE in the USA wasn't enough. You need to have a free house too for the rest of your life? Does every 9/11 survivor live in the same neighborhood they lived in 15 years ago?

you just gave me an idea... it wouldn't be bad for NOLA to institute a property tax control if you've paid NOLA property taxes and had a homestead exemption every year since 2004 or earlier, with the exception of 2006 and 2007 taxes. the city needs to reward those who took the risk and rebuilt when the future was uncertain. they are the people who make NOLA what it is, the heart and soul of the city.

Before I learned about sociology issues in college, I was generally a libertarian in my beliefs. But, my professor spent a lot of time on how gentrification benefits the rich at the expense of traditional, but lower income, neighborhoods.

I don't believe that homeowners should have the right to rent out their houses as day rentals.

MmmmmK. What if I, as a multiple homeowner, formed a corporation to day rent my house/houses?

Then would you be on board?

People shouldn't be punished because they have money and want to live somewhere.

If there is any city that needs gentrifying, its New Orleans. Traditional shitholes are still shitholes.

For the record, I am not saying mow down uptown so it looks like Katy, TX or make the French quarter look like Kemah.

She most likely doesn't believe in people being able to own more than one home, so good luck with this.

what if, as like Austin, they permit them as hotels and only allow a certain number of them per area

Then most likely the poor people that lived there before would be entitled to buy your extraneous homes from you at a fraction of their current value, since they were there first and all.

I'm curious how this is done. if someone were to sell the property that is licensed, does it stay with the owner, stay with the property, or is lost?

Seems like if they never expire during transactions, you end up where anyone who comes later can't do what they want with their property but previous people can (protectionism) because all the licenses are already taken.

However, if I buy the property and the permit is lost, there goes a potential benefit of that property for the buyer and seller.

it is not transferred, nor does it convey with the property

it is lost if ownership changes
