those that yearn from the feeling of freedom and cannot deal with the rules that other humans have bestowed upon them have two options:
(1) ignore or circumvent the rules (by hanging out with people at block parties instead of a club, for example)
(2) resist using protests or violence
The reason you don’t see more in the way of #2 is because it is exceptionally easy to accomplish #1, and humans love the path of least resistance until their lives get squeezed really hard. Jazzfest simply isn’t worth bleeding over for most people.

The balance of feeling safe vs feeling free has definitely tilted.
Anyone willing to sacrifice a little bit of freedom for a little bit of safety deserves neither.
And that no one rose up last March when all this shite started sealed our fate as a country.

ultimately they’ll receive neither as well

This is true.
When you sacrifice freedom for safety, you get neither.
When you sacrifice freedom for safety, you get neither.

Having had the flu before and having Covid now. The flu was much worse.

Thank you for being responsible. We will never get over this as long as we continue to provide a host for the evolving virus.

Sad, but the right decision. Time to cancel arrangements made . . . Hoping for next year! Get vaccinated people!!!

If only there was a way this could have been avoided… maybe a widely accessible and scientifically backed vaccine. Or maybe conscious and considerate humans… either way oh well ?????

?? I saw voodoo fest now this. I was just looking at the lineup/tix and trying to figure out my days too. What a bummer! ?? But I respect you guys for doing the responsible thing to help given the current covid boom :/ Can't wait for spring, I hope things have improved significantly by then ????

I knew this was coming. It’s common sense. How sad. This is sorta like “The sign of the Times” WTH- and epidemiologists are predicting more upcoming variants. Praying ???? unvaccinated people- please get vaccinated. That’s going to be the only way to get out of this ongoing vicious cycle.

Look, let’s simply nut up or shutup. How much you want to wager Biden does or doesn’t announce lockdowns this week? I have $100 for you and $100 for landshark. Lnch can hold the money via Venmo
i would never take that bet because the White House nor the Federal government would never outright force lockdowns from top down. You know this.
And frankly, it’s kind of insulting that you think you could bait me into such a stupid wager. But you do think anyone who disagrees with you if a Q crazy, so…

Just go ahead and cancel Mardi Gras now instead of giving people hope

I love how everything goes back to how they're so compassionate and caring and whatnot. What a joke. Those people would rather the other side exterminated if they had their choice. Vile

imagine operating in constant fear
I honestly just think people are wired that way, i can't wrap my mind around choosing safety over freedom especially when the "safety" is in the form of a meme like wearing a mask

Wonder if there is a financial element to the timing of these cancellations and blaming it on covid for convenience.
Jazz Fest literally charged the 2nd wave of the payment plan for weekend passes just yesterday

I got permabanned there for merely suggesting Latoya should have gone out of Phase one sooner than she did. Nothing vulgar or insulting to anyone.

My favorite posts I’ve seen there today are “I hope all anti vaccination people die the most painful death possible” and “Why didn’t the US just handle the pandemic like New Zealand did?”
