This entire statue takedown thing was absolutely pointless. If these progressives really wanted to make a change, wouldn't working on the problems of poor families and education in poor districts be a more optimal approach.

Knowing the stupidity of Mitch, they will half arse this one and the Beuragaurd(sp) one. The bases or huge and heavy as shite. They will probably let some bullshite outfit come out and just take the top parts down and then leave and eye sore for the next ten years.

For the record, I don't support taking the monuments down.
But I can tell you why the Take 'em Down crowd will win this fight.
It's real simple. Their willpower to remove the monuments is greater than the willpower to oppose it.
The people who want to defend the monuments have an internal dialogue that goes something like this: "I want to stand up for the monuments, but I'm afraid of being called a racist, or losing my job, so I'm not going to (post a comment on FB/politically oppose the movement/go out and protest)." Hey, I don't blame you. I feel the same way. I know I'll pay for any public comment I make supporting the monuments.
Like it or not, the liberals play dirty. That's because they are more committed to their bullshite causes than conservatives are. I'll bet there won't even be a peep from our side when their side chooses unilaterally what will replace these statues. You know it will play out that way.

They should just replace Lee with Sherman. That man burned Atlanta to the ground. There's one thing that all New Orleanians agree on and that is enjoying watching Atlanta burn.
