Simon Bolivar and Mahalia Jackson Monuments exist already in New Orleans. Bolivar's monument is not located on the street named after him for whatever reason.

Simon Bolivar already has one, while Mahalia Jackson has a theater in Armstrong Park.

You can make a case for Allen Toussaint. He absolutely deserves recognition for all of his contributions to New Orleans and to music. I'd love to see them do something like renovating the Municipal Auditorium and turning it into a concert hall / music school named for him. That would be a fitting and well deserved tribute for him.

Toussaint got a statue a a few years back. It's on Bourbon with some other New Orleans musical legends. He was pure class and a great musician.

I wasn't aware of that and I'm glad to see that...still, SOMETHING needs to be done with the Municipal Auditorium.

It does suck to be on the same side as the KKK and the White Knights and so forth.

We know two already.

Norman Francis will get Jefferson Davis avenue named after him.

Tivoli circle is the original name of Lee circle, but it looks like Mitch wants it to be a Tricentennial park.

PGT needs to stay, that's the one I would keep.

Though the plans there is a piece of modern art from the sculpture garden.

Yeah, with all that money they got from Katrina, I don't know why that has just been neglected so bad. 11 years after Katrina and no progress. Squatters were using it until they boarded it up again recently. Apparently, there are like hundreds of thousands of MREs and bottles of water in there still from Katrina, so homeless people were living in there and using MREs for their meals.
