I expect he's set up a trust so if anything happens to him (and it's beginning to look like a certainty) there will be enough money to take care of her in the best assisted living facility that money can buy.

3) why is a guy worth half a bill staying at Hampton Inns?
The smart guys in power are never going enrich a performer. People who want to be famous are talked into giving up control of their finances in exchange for success and an extravagant lifestyle. When they die or when they are no longer useful all the wealth goes away. Understand the mechanism and you will no longer be puzzled when the famous go broke.

Hampton Inn is all a guy needs. Nice bed, a tv, and a bathroom. 5 star hotels where you can only valet your car are a pain in the butt.

Years ago, he was booked to perform at Beau Rivage. He arrived with no entourage and pulled his own suitcase, despite offers from hotel staff. He ordered a sandwich through room service for dinner, and had no big requirements for his performance.
Management at Beau Rivage was surprised, as this was the opposite of what happens with most of the famous acts that are booked there.
