I’m going to flip black houses and be a multi millionaire and there is going to be almost no work involved.

bullshite. I’ve had 5 appraisals in 3 states over the last 20 years. The only thing that matters is square footage and comps.

Size, location, comps are the main thing but appraisals do take the House’s condition in consideration, to some extent. A full appraisal—not just a broker price opinion—will have interior photos.

The decor is not considered. Photos of black people are not considered.

Where can I pick up the “I live in a half million dollar house” victim card?

Only way I’m believing this story is if they post both reports which should be really easy.

I have my real estate license and it’s crazy how much appraisals can vary. The good thing is that they always show you which comps they used in the report though.

after they remove all traces of "blackness"

After they got the Pitbull off the chain in backyard.
After they painted the pink exterior to white.
After they cut the grass & towed three cars off front lawn.
After they patched all the holes in drywall.
Is this the context of removing all blackness that was left out?

I once had 3 appraisals done on my place for a company move. The range in appraisals was 170K. Turns out one of the appraisers used a comp on a house that had been gutted before sale. It sold for nothing and he wasn't a good appraiser.

My company took the average of all three appraisals with no opportunity to appeal it.

I ended up keeping the house and took a payout for the move because of that appraisal. Any thing else was a bad financial move.

Maybe she got a bad appraisal and it's as simple as that.

Entirely possible.

I’d also say it’s an industry where you could grab the high comp or low comp based on feelings about the family (both conscious and subconsciously) pretty easily in a lot of cases.

I don’t know if either of these guys did that, but if I employed them I might be curious to have someone thumb through their past work to see if either has any kind of consistent issues (race or as you note lack of good research)

My thought is that is likely a total bullshite article. I've gotten shitty appraisals not attached to my race and didnt try to make a social issue of it. I just protested and got a more accurate appraisal.
