He most likely wont go to jail but the biggest winner will be the city of New Orleans as he will immediately lose his law license.
as soon as he gets out of the clink....he will run for office again. and probably win.

The city will win until they hold a special election and they elect another incompetent DA.

He didn’t want to plead to anything that included a felony. Feds don’t play that game
Apparently the Feds are confident they can secure at least one felony conviction if they played hardball on plea negotiations.
And they certainly have a good jury pool drawing from Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. John and St. Charles in addition to Orleans.
I for one am cautiously optimistic Karma will catch up with this train wreck and hopeful he will get a glimpse of how a functioning justice system works.

I am as well as I think I read somewhere that most of his accomplices plead out other than him ... meaning there's certainly enough smoke to light this fire IMO

Yep, you don’t want to go to trial against. I was 2-0 against the DOJ pre trial with one being a TD fraud case. Luckily, never had to go to trial.

Wasn't the #2 person in his office also indicted? Did she plead?

I can't see this being anything more than a show trial. I know it's the feds, but JW is on the right (left) side.
The judge is a Bush Era prosecutor who will 100% be on the prosecutions side.
quote:He won't be found not guilty, and a "slap on the wrist" here is one felony and that's enough for him to lose his law license, that's why he didn't plead to the one count - because that's all they need.
He will either be found not guilty or get a slap on the wrist.

if he's getting tried by the feds he's fricked. dont they have like a 90% + conviction rate?
The Feds conviction rate is 98%. That's why all of his partners/buddies took plea deals. They go softer when you cooperate. Even his ex-wife just pled. His whole inner circle basically took plea deals.
I thought he would take one too, but thinking about it, he has more to lose than them and is just hoping he somehow comes out with a not guilty verdict and remains DA. Taking the plea deal would have immediately disqualified him from keeping his job. With going to trial, he'll just maintain his innocence no matter how obvious things are and he'll try to get back into politics if found guilty like Oliver Thomas.

If I’m Williams I play the race card regardless of the Judge’s instructions because he is already heading to jail.

Oh he most certainly will. Even though one of his partners who took a plea was white.

Absolutely but it wont be for DA as he wont have a law license anymore.

I’m sure everyone around him who took pleas will be testifying against him as a condition of those pleas.

he presiding Judge, Lance Affrick, has already gone on record stating Williams and his Atty cannot use race or political affiliation as defenses for allegations.
Meh. The PR battle has already begun. Complicit rag The Advocate ran a puff piece profile article on him the other day. Nearly the whole article was spent describing his social justice cause, his radical approach to law that is pretty much based on CRT, and describing the artwork in his office which is of course only black power/racial injustice historical figures. He’s playing the race card as we speak.
It’s always someone else’s fault. His ilk NEVER take responsibility for their actions. Even when caught red handed.

I mean you think the Judge will just sit back and allow that? He'd be digging his hole deeper. At this point they will need to point fingers as the tax preparer and any additional culpable party.

That has been their defense all along. They are playing a losing hand.

He just rejected a plea deal. A full acquittal in federal trials is very rare.
Judge pulled the plea. Feds don't take cases that arent slam dunks. He is going to jail 100%
