He didn’t want to plead to anything that included a felony. Feds don’t play that game

I can't see this being anything more than a show trial. I know it's the feds, but JW is on the right (left) side.

He will either be found not guilty or get a slap on the wrist.

He just rejected a plea deal. A full acquittal in federal trials is very rare.

Well, Mr. Williams:

He's a Democrat, so this is expected behavior. Nothing will happen to him, and the news won't make a peep about it.

Leftist politicians are found guilty in federal court all of the time.

Feds have an extremely high conviction rate at trial. The jury pool for the Eastern District isn't just made up of Orleans Parish residents. St Tammany, Jefferson, Washington, St Bernard, Lafourche etc etc.

Lots of predominantly R parishes.

Yeah I didn't take that into consideration but that's true.

Still think he gets a slap on the wrist.

If he's convicted it won't be a long sentence from my understanding, but he will serve time and will lose his law license.

It's tax fraud. He most likely wont go to jail but the biggest winner will be the city of New Orleans as he will immediately lose his law license. The city will win until they hold a special election and they elect another incompetent DA.

This ain't state court. He's going to be convicted of a felony. He may not serve any time but he won't be the DA anymore, which is the most important thing. No chance the US Attorney is taking an elected DA to trial unless they have a rock solid case.

Hopefully the race card won't play with the multi-parish jury pool, but it will definitely be the major part of the trial.

This guy is the epitome of expendable to the left. Will be ironic sitting in the place he actively tried to keep people out of

A conviction would give him a boost in the polls for his next run for DA.

The presiding Judge, Lance Affrick, has already gone on record stating Williams and his Atty cannot use race or political affiliation as defenses for allegations.
