Am I seeing correctly that some ‘people’ were going through pockets of the bodies just before the shots were fired in that video?
I don't think so at all. They were checking on them.

I don’t disagree but the same. Could be said for any large gathering of people on the street. There are countless parades and festivals all over the country where this is an issue.

Especially on NYE. A lot of people party very late on NYE who don’t normally stay out that late.

Rental or stolen. Lightings are rented out all the time so definitely possible it’s a rental
has a MacHaik Ford sticker on it which is in Houston. so probably not a corporate rental vehicle from a Hertz etc but maybe a private rental like Turo

looks like a rifle case in the bed of the pickup, can't quite tell what the yellow container/case is...?
ETA: The yellow box is a plastic tote. The black case on top looks like a rifle case.

Seems like a dumbass. Times square has infinitely more attention and security due to the big ball drop. Every national news network doesnt have live broadcasts from Bourbon Street on NYE

Former FBI Special Agent Chris Swecker told Fox News Digital that New Orleans has "always been a problematic police department." "This type of event is indeed predictable, and it is fundamental that you protect the highest concentration of people at the event. You have to question how a truck got through the perimeter. I can see a lone gunman getting through, it's hard to fathom a truck breaching that perimeter. I suspect they were protecting the perimeter with wooden barriers," Swecker said. "I can guarantee you in Times Square last night they were protecting that perimeter with vehicles and solid objects. Security is a tough thing when you haven't had an event like this in your Venue in a while but the fact is this has happened twice in New Orleans since 2017," he added.
There's a lot to criticize about the NOPD, but handling huge crowds and events generally isn't one of the things to criticize given how NOPD handles Mardi Gras, annually.

There’s 4 bullet holes in the back of the truck. Probably hit in the head
His head looks clean in both pictures and he was wearing a military hard helmet. Looks from the photos like the kill shots were to the arms and rib area, based on the bleed out

This.
I’ve always thought New Orleans/ the French Quarter is possibly one of the easiest targets given how densely packed it is

If they did not have the street bollocks up, this was a huge fail by someone.

Perhaps the killers identity hasn’t been released because he recently entered the country illegally and his ID is unknown.

Yes. This could happen at any large event in the country. It’s silly to rag on NOLA for this IMO

That’s the first thing that came to your mind when you saw it?

Makes you wonder if they have just been rolling the dice this whole time and there really is no coordination. I wouldn’t be shocked.
