No hmmm necessary. You need flagrantly bad misconduct.
Can you make the argument that not going further than the current status quo in the quarter is FLAGRANTLY bad misconduct?
For something like this to come into play you'd need a city official like, actively encouraging people in an official capacity to commit mass casualty inducing terror attacks.

Not sure if it’s been posted but Poydras from Claiborne to St. Charles will be closed beginning at noon for Sugar Bowl.

That's one thing that many people, myself included, always seem to forget when we are sitting here calmly behind our screens The guy committing this is frickING INSANE. He's not thinking clearly, logically, etc etc. HE IS CRAZY.
And in this case life is literally coming at him quite quickly at 60 mph in his final moments, and with adrenaline through the roof
We can’t pretend his actions were to his perfect ideal plan in the moment, or what his ideal plan was going into as he was clearly loony to start.
Surely any of us could poke holes or point out flaws

Someone yesterday said FBI HRT was aboard JENA1 en route to MSY, not sure of the validity of that. They may be just moving additional agents down, not necessarily HRT.

The Bourbon Street barriers, which will be deployed from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Mardi Gras (Feb. 28), are a reaction to a July 2016 mass murder in Nice, France, when a terrorist used a truck as a weapon to plow into a Bastille Day crowd, killing 86 and injuring hundreds more. A few months later a copycat killed 12 shoppers in a Berlin Christmas market.

Wonder if one of these would've stopped him?

Watch as a New Orleans Police Department officer activates a new mechanical barrier on February 22, less than a block from Bourbon Street. The device, which the city purchased for an estimated $30,000 to $50,000, is meant to protect pedestrians from possible terrorist truck attacks, and common vehicle accidents. There are three such barriers in the French Quarter.

The barrier is one of three the city purchased for between $30,000 and $50,000 each. Aaron Miller, the city's director of homeland security and preparedness, said that he would provide a more precise cost figure later. The barriers were put in place last week before the NBA All-Star game.
As previously reported, the portable barriers, currently located on St. Peter and Conti Streets as well as Bienville Street, are one of the first steps in the $40 million citywide public-safety plan that was unveiled by Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Governor John Bel Edwards on Jan. 23.

His plan was likely to set off the bombs at some point after he planted them, which IIRC they said he planted them around 1am. When they didn’t detonate he resorted to plan B.
I don’t know that we have an exact timeline but it sounds like LE is saying they located and disbaled(detonated) multiple (4+ including ones found in truck) IEDs in at least 3 locations in a very short time frame.
I’m not an EOD tech but that seems like a really impressive feat and they have certainly avoided providing any detail on this aspect so far.

I just can't watch those extremely graphic videos of the bodies. I absolutely hate how our society as a whole has become numb to this graphic content. Those are people's sons and daughters laying out there. Please do better and do not share these type of videos. Imagine if that were your family members if you would want that out there or to see that content. Just terrible

Another victim name released. 2023 AU grad. These type of events make me irrationally angry. Prayers for NOLA and all the families impacted.

Unfortunately this is just the reality of the world we live in now and you should expect to see these things.

Why do you feel your anger is irrational? Seems normal to me.

The bollards wouldn't have stopped him. He went on the curb around the police care that was blocking the entire street. He could have gone the length of bourbon even if they were installed. the bollards only block the street. The sidewalks are pretty wide on bourbon.

I guess because of the type of retribution I’d personally pay to inflict on these assholes.

That's really the best time to detonate bombs...

As a therapist, I fully support your anger as 100% rational. It is out of the realm of your ordinary day to day anger, but so is this situation. The level of anger is directly related to the level of the offense. The magnitude of this offense against our society is enormous, so the rational response is enormous anger. Just be sure to control and channel that anger in ways that is productive and not in ways that get you in trouble.
