Video clearly shows there was active fire after he crashed

The FBI reported that he had a pistol and a .308 rifle (not sure if model was provided, just saw caliber).

I am sure that there were NYE crowds in Houston for him to target

ehh, not anywhere in Houston on NYE that would be as densely as populated as Bourbon Street.

Also how did he get a 1/2 ton pickup truck around the barriers?

Just went around on the sidewalk.

Pretty sure nola has the 3rd biggest or so NYE celebration to the point it's a staple of the ABC channel NYE broadcast every year. Plus not many cities have a sole location where a majority of people congregate at all hours in tight quarters like Bourbon st. The pic of bourbon st around midnight was haunting in retrospect, streets were packed tightly with tens of thousands of people.

I know there was a rifle case in the back.

Yep, I would be surprised if he was using a rifle for that, but who knows...I'm just going off of what seems logical, which is likely wrong.

get what Landry is trying to do: reassure New Orleanians the city is safe and the game will be safe tomorrow.

Yep. I believe Jeff Landry is well intentioned, but he has got to get some better PR people around him.

There’s much better ways to accomplish what he was trying to do than posting that picture.

There was only a police SUV blocking Bourbon, he drove around it on the sidewalk

Where were the bollards that I vaguely recall being there?

I wouldn't think so either, but I was just responding to whoever was asking the question earlier.

Rece Davis has twice referred to this incident as a “terrorist attack”. Can his haters on here breathe easier?

No, because Rece Davis is still a baby-back bitch, regardless of this event.

Which makes it weirder he waited till 3:15am. Bourbon still has a crowd, but nothing like he would have run into earlier in the night.

This is why I’m convinced the truck attack wasn’t Plan A.

However, this was a really dumb way to do it that makes himself the topic of discussion. Optics are awful.

I agree with this. I was just pointing out that there’s almost nothing someone can do right now that wouldn’t be criticized by someone.

Sorry, if this has already been answered, but the truck crashed into a man lift.
What was it doing out in the street? And can that be contributed to saving lives?

Could also have had a second cruiser parked at Canal/Bourbon that made access harder/impossible.

Saw someone say it was there for a construction project, but maybe NOPD was using it for crowd surveillance? Not sure.
