that's actually a negative. I would like more than a mere 50 minutes of space between where I live and the chaos this is, and will become New Orleans.

Northshore is 50 miles, not New Orleans proper

The Coast no doubt.

Olive Branch and Madison are manufactured suburbs.

Ocean Springs, Pass Christian or Bay St Louis are old towns.

Good public schools in the first two, not so much for BSL but Stanislaus is there.

Pesky hurricanes, expensive wind insurance until you get North of I-10.

depends on your priorities.

If you like stuff that exists in larger cities, then Madision is the obvious choice. very good school system and the town is locked up with restrictions so it stays very clean. property values hole up very well.

Hernando is also very nice and very clean. it is near Memphis, so you have all of the larger city things to do. You are only :45 from land based casinos in Tunica, if you like that kind of thing.

The coast is a whole different thing. The coast also has good entertainment due to the casinos in Biloxi. There are also a lot of big names that come to the gulf coast coliseum. There are fewer dining options on the coast than the others outside of what the casinos offer.

I have thought about this whole quandary quite a bit and honestly, just find the vibe on the coast alluring. downfall is that the probability is pretty good that once in your life, a hurricane will take your house....so that is something to think about.

traffic on the coast is light on the worst of days...and like it or not, you will know everyone in town.

I'm door to door (BSL to warehouse district) in 1 hour, and that's taking Old 90 and not the interstate. The Lake St Catherine area is cool.

Just saying...if I'm living on the beach...I want a pretty beach. Why settle you know? Also, I would want to live on the beach of a state that has other decent cities in it.

Please tell me what thriving metropolis I can go visit in Mississippi nearby some of these beach towns when I want a night out in the city?

So you admit there are no decent large cities actually in Mississippi.

How is saying you need to go out of the state for something actually positively promoting that state?

But you have to go through N.O. East

Still somewhere less depressing than Mississippi.

I don't care for Dianmondhead.... but the area between kiln and BSL, Waveland wouldn't be bad. Really close to everything.

My folks have a camp in Jouredan River Shores in the Kiln area which is pretty ideal, more so than Diamondhead imo... it's a 5min boat ride out to the Bay

A quick map will show you the coast has two decently sized cities to the east and west of it albeit, in different states. Someone (whose priorities in terms of lifestyle we don't know) asking for 3 options and being bombarded with BRO THE WHOLE STATE DEPRESSING AS frick WHO CARES is giving me massive douche chills.

IDGAF about this state, I'm not trying to promote it over another place. We moved to San Francisco after college, and lived a short walk from Ocean Beach. I was addicted to sun sets at Lands End park...then we moved to NOLA...then here. We chose to live in BSL and really enjoy it.

Well, Madison and Southaven/Hernando are certainly suburbs of larger cities.
