Many years ago New Orleans hosted some preliminary events.

Can’t remember what it was but think they were held at city park stadium.

Early ‘80’s I’m guessing.

Got to see many of the best athletes in the world.

Track and field athletes are the thoroughbreds of sports.

In a positive way. Bodies and accomplishments.

1992 Track and Field Trials for the Barcelona Olympics were at Tad Gormley.

The Dan vs Dave competition came to an ignominious end when Dan failed to qualify.

IOC would never pick a spot where they weren't the most corrupt organization in town.

Governments spend and lose billions hosting the Olympics.

Thank you for the history!

Bringing back memories.

Do you remember the fastest guys on the team?

I’m going to look it up.

I met in person who I think who our second fastest guy was

NOLA can't host the Olympics. No way they'd know when the starting pistol is fired.

The Olympics would've brought many billions in infrastructure and building projects, and the military would've had crime on near complete lockdown during the entire event.

Once they build the Disneyworld, they’ll be able to host

the idea is you add infrastructure, attractions, and get PR and marketing that's worth in the long run more than you lose

For example... everyone loved and remembers L.A. in '84 and Atlanta '96. there's no doubt it helped those places grow.

There's a reason Hitler wanted his Olympics, and a reason China wanted theirs in '08
