I'm convinced the NFL doesn't want people watching the halftime show.

Should get Ozzy to do it since the NFL is dead

The NFL is more popular today than it has ever been. The first night of the draft beat some of the CFP games in Neilson.

Do people even watch the halftime show? Most of us use halftime as a chance to pee and refill beer/snacks.

Don't hold your breath for them to book any dad rock bands from the 70s or 80s.

The NFL also did that after nipple gate and it was terrible.

Rage Against the Machine, which is kind of hilarious.

You are surprised RATM are radical liberals? That's always been their thing. Did you ever listen to their lyrics? It's all revolutionary leftist activist anthems.

Well, Bobby Rock from the Lita Ford band tutored Lars (even got a shout out from Lars at the Grammys) so apparently Lars isn't the greatest. Peart was my all time favorite tho.

Idk. Older white neb are going to watch football either way. Maybe the NFL is just trying to attract young kids that don’t care about sports.

Read somewhere that the halftime show is 100% produced and recorded
Live rock bands don't work with what they are trying to produce.

Mehtallica would get the worst rating of any halftime show in history of the super bowl

Though I agree, it doesn't work that way.

The NFL pays performers the union rate minimum. Usher only received $671.

The NFL and Apple Music will also pay the cover costs for the set and special effects.

The big payment comes with the exposure the artist receives from performing.

Many artists receive a surge in streaming, social media viewership, sponsorships, and more.

The NFL is trying to reach a broader audience and not just appeal to it's core base.

And coming from Hetfield Himself, in a 2016 interview.

"I can't dance, I can't jump around, I'm not an acrobat, I'm not a variety show, you know? We are artists. We're a band. We love playing songs. We're not gonna fly through the air on a sparkly star with a unicorn.

"It's become less about music unfortunately and more about just the spectacle. When we played for the fiftieth anniversary of the NFL… right here in our hometown and they didn't have us do it… that would have been the time. Maybe that time has passed?”

Hell yeah man! And instead of young folks on the field for the show they could have a bunch of 65 year old white guys with biker wallets out there!!!!

there has to be middle ground somewhere between a Boomer-centric halftime performance and a spanish mumble rapper who hates our country…..
