I mean.......
The two terms seem pretty close tbh.

Clinically, narcissism is defined as a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, an excessive need for admiration, and a profound lack of empathy

Hmmm...its almost like what I have been saying about those seeking social media clout could fit the clinical definition very easily, but hey, you are the pro.

I think we'd all settle for female therapists coming out and acknowledging that a huge swath of western women are self-absorbed assholes and it's growing pretty dramatically.
It would be a pretty good start.
It would be a pretty good start.

I know you liked telling us about your degree, then I made fun of you for it, and you basically stopped.
I am telling you it's time to start again to feed your own ego like you like to do.
Oh, Stout. Imagine your flex of the day being that you imagined that you bullied someone into not talking about their profession on an anonymous message board because they called you on wanting to accuse all women of lying about a legitimate medical condition (that has a potential genetic component no less).
That doesn't scream insecurity or anything.

The world is fully depraved now. Life has no meaning to the majority now. God is watching. It won't be long.

What exactly are you two arguing about?

I mean, I use sound clinical judgement and don't diagnose for shits and giggle or because someone came in with a TikTok reel that said they had X condition.
I've actually lost potential clients over that. So I think I'm probably doing a decent job at that.

He's upset that I commented in a thread about mental illness as a therapist and have mentioned it when I've commented in other threads about mental illness.
And because he apparently has the complete inability to scroll passed posts he's not interested in, he claims he shamed me into not mentioning it even though I have.
It's honestly kind of bizarre.

How many were middle and upper-middle class white women?

Would you agree that culturally it has become an issue though? This messaging that features a lack of accountability in many cases specific to women?

Belle, I would argue that the person who constantly feels the need to tell said strangers on a message board that she has a therapy degree is the person with deep insecurities, but I am just a dummy who dropped out of college. What do I know?

Susan Smith killed her two sons 30 years ago by rolling the car that they were in into a lake. Blamed it on depression , also said she wanted to start a new relation without her children.
Casey Anthony murdered her daughter. She wanted to be able to party non stop with trash people.
Some people are so selfish that they will kill to get their way.

Honestly, they're not.
People, especially on social media, throw around the term narcissist a lot when talking about people that they don't like or feel like have wronged them. The clinical definition is a lot more complex than that.
Just like if someone likes to clean a lot it doesn't mean they meet the clinical threshold of OCD. But people will say, "I have a little OCD". Same thing.

I don't mean clinically. I mean in terms of women talking to women.
Maybe therapists can't broadly say "women in this country have some serious issues they need to address from the inside" - but I'm not aware of what it would be professionally. Anyway, not really my point. My point is that we are in great need of women who shame other women into reforming their conduct.

The one thing that needs to be looked at is the amount of medicine she was on. That was a ton of drugs. If anything this should cause doctors to spend a bit more time with patients before they just give them a script and rush them out the door. She did it. She lined her babies up and took their life. She deserves to be punished.

Chris Benoit killed his whole family, then hung himself on his Smith machine.
He had CTE.
That's still no excuse for what he did, and outside of TD.com's own dukke V writing a poem for him, you won't find many men excusing him.

Oh it's absolutely a cultural issue. Laypeople using therapy speak in general is an issue as a whole (and Stout's post is a good passive example of that).
Women tend to rely more on the social media aspect like TikTok. The therapy speak part isn't exclusive to women though. I've worked with my fair share of couples where a man will call his female partner "Bipolar" or "Borderline" when they're not. Sometimes they're just assholes with poor emotion regulation.

If the clinical definition is
quote:

These people would have traits such as an unrealistic view of self and inflated self importance, an unhealthy need to be told that they're wonderful and they don't tend to care about the feelings and point of view of others.
Can you explain to me how a self absorbed a-hole doesn't pretty much cover that or are you disputing the definition?

for me, I feel the therapist is as much at fault as anyone. listen to her while on the stand. She wasn’t a therapist. She was a friend with script pad there to affirm and support crazy britches.
