One thing I notice is that it is only middle-class and upper-white women screaming about postpartum depression.
I don't see poverty whites, Latinos, blacks, asians, etc
Is it a white-only disease?
Does it only come about due to no other struggle, so they need one?
Denying the existence of post-partum depression for a lot of women is silly. You don't have to do that to try to prove a point that there's a weird group of people on social media who are defending her.
Post-partum depression affects 1 out of 5 women who have given birth. It's a specifier under Major Depressive Disorder in the DSM-5-TR that acknowledges is can have varying levels (just like "standard" depression). Post-partum psychosis is the most severe of that presentation (and falls under other conditions as a specifier like Brief Psychotic Disorder or Major Depressive Disorder with psychotic features, etc).
There's actually been a decent amount of research in the last few years that have found a genetic component to post-partum that makes some women more susceptible to hormonal shifts. A study back in May revealed some potential info that could be helpful for treatment in post-partum psychosis:
quote:
Analyses of 240,009 participants from the All of Us Research Program and 58,990 participants from the Mount Sinai BioMe Biobank identified significant associations linking deleterious rare variants in HMGCR to vascular dementia and mental disorder, not otherwise specified, supporting the gene’s broader psychiatric relevance. Additionally, among the top 200 genes ranked by association statistics, 17% of bipolar disorder, 21% of schizophrenia, and 16–25% of multiple autoimmune disorders exhibit a possible association with postpartum psychosis. These findings reveal unique genetic contributions and shared pathways, providing a foundation for understanding pathophysiology and advancing therapeutic strategies.

So it's like sickle cell for white women?

No need to be factitious. I said all women.
You're acting like it's a condition exclusive to a privileged, white woman. It's not.

This.
There is a huge difference in clinically diagnosed PPD vs a woman using it as an excuse to be a narcissistic bitch who hates her children and posts it to social media for sympathy attention
It's the same as the people who say shite like "My ADD kicked in, and I cleaned my house today"
You don't have ADD. You just prefer not to live in filth. Congrats. You are actually normal.

No but getting romantically involved with another woman and popping out new kids is not something most would care to do either right away.
Seems like there is a good number of people who lose spouses and get remarried pretty quickly. That doesn't seem that odd unless he got remarried within a month

Oh, he's absolutely trying to suggest it's made up.
My point is that acting like it is made up, is harmful in itself. And if you're married and you're having kids, as a husband/boyfriend it would behoove you to understand what it looks like.

I don't understand what these idiots want. This woman had doctors, psychologists, counselors, endless family support, and medication from the professionals the nut jobs supporting her are demanding. What was she missing other than a care in the world for anyone but herself?
The system these women are demanding is exactly what this psycho had at her disposal.

No. I am saying middle and upper-class white women fake it for sympathy
We live in weird times where everyone wants something wrong with them so they can use it for attention and sympathy from strangers on the internet. If they don't have a disease or other issues, they fake one. See my example ADD one above.
You don't really see other races doing it no matter what disease they are trying to claim, and poor white people have enough real problems that they don't need to fake one.

You guys love to hate on women on this board; but in real life I assume you guys would drag your nuts over broken glass for your wives to touch your shriveled peepee.
Grow up.
Grow up.

I am mostly concerned with how many of these whacked out broads are nurses based on them wearing scrubs with hospital ID’s in the videos.

And I'm saying that if they're accurately assessed they're not faking it. And it's not exclusive to a certain class or race of woman when you consider the are finding genetic components to it.

This isn't someone getting on TikTok and claiming they have a touch of the -tism because they like things in a certain order.
And YOU may not see many races because of some weird arse algorithm you're exposed to but over here in the real world where we're treating post-partum, it's not exclusive to white women. Black women actually have a higher percentage of reported post-partum depression (closer to 40%) than white women.

This is true. I agree, in a vacuum, it's also a reasonable thing to say. In context in this thread, it's reasonable to say too.
But what guys see in this saga is women going "same, Lindsay, same" on social media and giving her money and blaming the husband. And then Matt Walsh does some rage baiting on PPD, and now we're flooded with all the "normal" moms/wives who were just sort of keeping quiet about the Clancy nuttery putting the PPD ignorance/trolling on the same level as the mass psychosis of the Clancy situation generally.
In short, no self policing at all. Mild chastising commentary toward the Clancy lunacy (if any), followed by all the reasonable ones grabbing their weaponry for the PPD battle.
Anyway, genuinely not pointing this at you as what you're saying is "in-line" with the conversation of the thread, but in the aggregate, it's a notable thing that's only driving this gender war moment.

It's amazing how you missed what I was saying completely and tried to blame it on my algorithm only. It's almost like you are proving the point of this thread that women can be very tribal
You should go back to reminding us all about having a therapist degree like you used to in every post so we know your opinion matters more than everyone else's.

Because you're not being tribal by suggesting it's a "white women's disease".

Well, treating post-partum is within my scope. I'm not going to apologize for pointing that out and not sure why it upsets you so much. Hopefully some of the folks here don't absolutely shame their wives if they develop it (there's a good chance some will statistically) when folks like you argue that it's just a make believe condition for white women.
