It's 2018 why don't pickups come with spray liner?

Is there a single case where having a metal bed is preferred?
With their economies of scale seems like this would add about $10 in cost to the trucks rolling off the line.

It took all these years for Twix to have left and right.

I had to pay $400 for a spray in bed liner for my $73,000 F-250 that I never put anything in the bed. Should have it and the bed liner paid off by 2026.

Seeing as how it's $400-$500 for a Rhino bed liner to be sprayed in the average PU, I'd say your $10 factory estimate is way off, even when volume is concerned, but it would be way cheaper than aftermarket more than likely.
I did the Rhino liner to my 95 Ranger many years ago and before that I fiberglassed in the bed of my 75 Ranchero. I currently own an 06 Silverado that I've not done the bed liner but am considering it. I've done a lot of hauling building materials and many trips to the dump with it and it is getting beat a bit and the bed liner is great for keeping it looking nice.

If you never put anything in the bed, why did you get a truck to start with?

What’s your main concern here? Environmental?

I prefer a metal bed. Every now and then I get a load of garden soil or play sand from the nursery. My flat shovel would tear up a sprayed liner.

I think my Tacoma has some kind of plastic liner.

I was also chopping up plants with a spade shovel in the bed. Didn't cut the bedliner. I did hit it with a hatchet once, and that cut it
