You’re my favorite kind of truck owner. Unfortunately, a large percentage of truck owners do not feel this way or “work” out of them.

Line-X holds up better than Rhino.

I had to get my tailgate replaced, and the guy sprayed Ultimate liner on it. Seems to be very similar to Line-X in consistency and durability

My father had 60 trucks all over the south. I have 16. They all work and work hard as they aren’t bought just for looks, they are bought for production. They are well maintained and kept clean and they last because of that. A spray in bed liner is just another tool that is worth the money.

Why would you put a spray liner in a brand new truck? Let the bed get scratched up THEN put a liner.

My Tundra came with a liner and it works great for those weekend trips to the grocery or the mall.

I prefer a metal bed. Every now and then I get a load of garden soil or play sand from the nursery. My flat shovel would tear up a sprayed liner.

I have Line X and haul a lot of dirt rocks and gravel never put a scratch in with a shovel. The stuff was first invented to protect dump cars used in diamond mines from rocks and shovels.

If you never put anything in the bed, why did you get a truck to start with?

This is a majority of people that own trucks.

Never thought about that but that’s a dang good question.

Not sure why someone would even want a truck without the liner in it

I’ll go to the Ford Dealership tomorrow and take pictures of all the trucks with and without factory sprayed bed liners. Then we can settle this.

Well what’s the count?

Because they charged me an extra 500 bucks for it. They told me all their trucks had it. I told them I didn't want one if it added cost. Was purely trying to get then to throw it in for free to make the deal. Turns out they lied and had trucks without it. In any case I can get one sprayed for less than they charged.

And it wasnt a Ford Factory liner....they sprayed it at the dealership.

Is there a single case where having a metal bed is preferred?

shite , Ford doesn't even give you a real metal bed in their F150 any more

Seriously though, not everyone likes a bed liner. So better to simply offer it as an option.

Seeing as how it's $400-$500 for a Rhino bed liner to be sprayed in the average PU, I'd say your $10 factory estimate is way off, even when volume is concerned, but it would be way cheaper than aftermarket more than likely.

How much do you think it cost for the factory to paint the hood of your truck on the assembly line? How much would it cost for you to have the hood repainted? That is an illustration of economies of scale. I think you are right that it would be more than $10...but not significantly more.

Yeah, idk if I'd risk an aluminum, composite, or carbon fiber bed. Bedliner is extra insurance

I think something like 60% of trucks are used as daily drivers that routinely haul groceries and luggage and stuff like , but not much more. I think those materials would be just fine there,

But I have a WORK truck, We routinely haul sand and gravel in it, or haul trash, or it's out in one the pastures with cows and horses rubbing up against it

That's why I have a 2017 F250.

I don't tow much with mine but use it for hauling a fair amount. My 4 wheeler in particular. The aluminum bed isn't an issue for me. Most people don't beat the hell out of them anyway.

Go stick a magnet on it and see. Mine is aluminum but that doesn't matter. I haul pallets of cement, gravel, dirt, 5 gallon buckets, hay, cow shite, limestone whatever and the bed works fine. I don't drop shite from 10' into it but I do squat it down when I want to. And I tow boats, trailers, specialty heavy equipment, tractors you name it. Once in awhile I take the rubber mat out, park it on the hill and hose the bed out.
