Streaming is cheaper than buying physical media.
Yep I stopped caring about owning the physical copy and liner notes and holding the object in my hand a long time ago. I had about 1,000 CDs up until around 2008. Looking back it's crazy how expensive they were. In the '80s upwards of $18 for popular titles at the corporate mall stores. Cheaper at the indie places but still like paying $30-$45 in today's money. And a lot of times buying the whole CD just for one song.

Door dash.
I heard a coworker say they spend 1000 a month on door dash. I almost fired them on the spot

Bottled water. And basically just filtered tap water. The American consumer is stupid.

The way Big Water convinced an entire country that we are severely dehydrated, and convinced so many people to carry water on their person 24/7... is fascinating to me.

Your total compensation never changed. Your labor ALWAYS paid for it.

water, drink it straight out of the tap or from the garden hose if outside. People look at you crazy if you do that today.

I hope you understand that you are fortunate, and an anomaly.

Proof that Americans are retarded and will buy anything if properly marketed.

Americans are fat fricks that eat 10x the necessary sodium and require a lot of water as a result.

But cars were easier to work on and most men could change their own oil.

mowed yards all 4 years of high school. That was 80s.
I mowed plenty of yards in my neighborhood. This was late 70’s into the early 80’s. One house I was doing only paid me $10 per mowing. She was a nice old lady and my father got pissed when I quit. He thought I owed it to her. She wasn’t family but he was probably right
My two older brothers mowed her lawn and the price never changed. I finally said enough. He was pissed I said no more.
