Yes, I do believe that these are also important reasons why he quit the job.

The other reason i doubt it is b/c Payton made it clear in his press conference that he’s maintaining a residence in NOLA .

A condo in a tower that they may spend 7 nights a year in

Practice in Metairie and lived in the Sanctuary in Mandeville. Had to go to New Orleans less than a dozen times a year on the safest day of the week at the safest time.

It’s not about crime, albeit NOLA crime is off the charts.

It is/was about the salary cap situation. The Saints are $75 million over the salary cap. The Saints are going to have terrible rosters for the next 2-4 years. Terrible rosters = losing.

Payton is running from the coming Saints losing seasons. I feel bad for Dennis Allen.

He was put in a similar situation when he was the HC at Oakland.

Bwwwwaaaahahahahahaha

Just like I posted...

I so agree... He was so woke to speak out on gun control when white people did it... and then he was outspoken on anti-cop and Trump...

And now that New Orleans crime is skyrocketing, so bad that actual discussion of bringing the military in to help fight crime, he is bailing out faster than a voter out of California for Texas...

Here he is using his platform to show support for the police and crime fighting.

If that is true, the it reeks of white privilege and he will never coach again in the NFL.

Congratulations, this might be one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen on TD. That is quite the accomplishment.

He hasn’t lived there in approximately 10 yrs, he has most recently been living Uptown.. but my point was that if his heart was still in the job, and he was concerned about NOLA crime, he could have easily relocated back tot the Northshore.

Here’s the real story - house uptown has already been sold. They are in the process of moving out now to the new condo in the four seasons.

Will split time between NOLA and their beach house for the next year. Crime is a factor also the fact that the house was a poor quality spec and has been a money pit. Crime was a factor but not primary. A sabbatical has been a consideration for for 3 years - he promised his wife when he was engaged. My guess is he’s coaching next year.

This sounds logical…. That crime factored into his life decision.. hell, crime in NOLA is a factor in the minds of anyone who lives there, as i have.. What isnt logical is the premise of this thread, implying that Payton said ‘Nope, too many carjackings- i dont wanna coach the Saints no more.’
