This is what happens when you become associated with shite drivers who you absolutely avoid because they are short, poor, and uninsured.

Oh Nickleback is Canadian? Now it all makes sense. The more you know.

Do they have nickels in Canada?

Shouldn’t they be Loonyback or Twonieback due to inflation?

It all goes back to perception.

What was your perception of Nissan in 2005 ? Solid car company. Traditional vehicles that weren't high end but were functional and reliable.
Hot girls and cougars drove Maximas and outdoorsy types and frat dudes drove Pathfinders and Xterras.

Now what do you associate with Nissans in 2025 ?

The Altima on the Interstate that's missing half a spoiler, has a garbage bag window and is down to its last rim. Swerving back and forth through traffic with a paper drive out tag that's been expired for 6 weeks ?!?

True or Untrue. Fair or unfair. Stereotypes matter.

Not to mention wrong. Young generation grew up listening to Nickelback, Creed, Three Doors Down, etc. on their dad's radio.

The hate Nickelback gets is ridiculous. Remind Me, Hero, and Rock Star are bangers, and while Chad may be a bit of a douche, I don't think there's any real controversy surrounding them (a la Chris Brown). Hating them became an internet meme, and the internet loves to beat a good meme into the ground (a la Chris Brown).

What decisions has Nissan made to loose $4.5B in 3 months?

Point to any they have made. Pretty much.

They have so many friken SUVs they cannibalize their own sales. Their steadfast clinging to that absolutely awful CVT transmission that WILL fail (not may, WILL). They made a good V8 for the Titan and Armada… but it got 14 MPG on an unloaded vehicle. They had zero sense of styling for the Armada and old Titan. They had a disastrous decision to go with the mini diesel for the Titan that wasn’t well received. They had a great selling small truck that was well received and totally went off the deep end with the first generation Frontier. They have let the Z sports car become an upgrade from a Miata instead of a past competitor to GMs, Fords, Chryslers, and Toyotas sports cars, etc etc etc.

Literally just need to bring back the Xterra and not make it shite, and I will buy it. I miss my Xterra so much.

please quit talking about Nickelback.

It is sad how Nissan has fallen in 20 years. The Titan was a great truck but they let it get stale and the other truck companies passed it by. The XD was probably not a good idea. Spreading themselves too thin.

You can probably say the same about the Frontier. They sat on that design for a very long time.

A new Xterra could really do well. It could be a cool offroad style SUV that would come in below the price of a Jeep or a Bronco.

Making the Pathfinder a crossover was a bad decision. It no longer is the same as the 4Runner. However, I will say that the new Rock Creek Pathfinders are pretty cool looking.

In my opinion, Nissan does have some nice looking vehicles out right now. I think the new Armadas are really nice. Likewise, with the new Kicks and new Muranos.

Laying off 20000 people is crazy. I don't see how they can survive that. I hope they do because I have really liked every Nissan I have owned.

Maybe they need to stop making cars all together. Or stop selling their cars in bulk to rental companies. Those are resold to their current demographic that they are known for.

I'm amazed that a company can lose so much money and still be in business.

Henry Ford would have exploded in this situation.

We made fun of The Bee Gees back in the 80’s like folks do Nickleback now. It all comes back around. They just became the whipping boys for a time period.

I wonder about the Nissan steel plant that is supposed to be built near Donaldsonville.

Nickelback (not played a lot) is on my phone.

That is more a consequence than a cause. The cause was Carlos Ghosn. With him at the helm, Nissan dropped in quality, especially the interiors, as a result resell went off a cliff, and the used ones ended up in the hands of poor people.

Nickelback

A band that everyone supposedly hates is within a c*not hair of being in the top ten best selling rock bands of all time, and is still selling out shows in big venues all over the place nearly thirty years after they hit the scene.

Imagine what they could do if people actually liked them and their music!

Quick update, just realized this Sentra does a fake up shift to hide the fact that it’s a CVT. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mimic downshifts, so it feels very gimmicky and makes it more obnoxious to drive.

LOL. Most industry insiders will tell you that Ghosn was their last, best hope. They blew it when they jailed him on BS charges to in a vain, hopeless attempt to keep Nissan independent. Now those chickens are coming home to roost.

The best possible outcome is that Toyota makes them a subsidiary now out of nationalistic charity. If that falls through, Nissan is essentially done because the Japanese government will not allow a Chinese owner to bail them out.
