That is a bad idea.

We store ours in individual paper bags. It is the best we have.

This is the result of electing and putting people in charge of disasters that are appointed or hired based on politics, etc.

I’m not back until Wednesday.

As of when I left work Friday ...we are only reusing N95s on patients with stuff like TB and NOT suspected/confirmed COVID-19. I think they might have staff reuse the regular masks for non COVID patients.

It changes day by day so who knows what senior leadership will have decided when I go back to work.

If the supply can't be manufactured fast enough to meet the demand then it doesn't matter how much money that is available.

I am not sure if that is the case, but you also have to factor in all the red tape. For smaller, more rural hospitals that have smaller budgets, its probably easier for them to just get mask that people are making than have to wait on whatever assistance government is providing.. Because government isn't designed to react to present situations.

Or at least it doesn't seem like it. The government seems to only take action after the fact instead of doing things to prevent problems.

As in another thread, we had to find my wife a respirator online from an automotives store. We found one and had it delivered. Tried to order another and we're denied.
Respirators will last around 6 months until you have to change the filter. Her sisters husband works for an automotive dealership. They have respirators for working on cars. He was able to buy 4 from their supplier. He told the supplier what they were for The guy told him he couldn't get any more because they had to save them to supply the automotive shops. That directive didn't come from him but on the chain.
So basically there are masks and respirators out there but neither the government or companies are willing to part with them to give to hospitals. Trump is not giving certain states, NY, enough because of the personal grudges he has with the governor's of those states. FACT

People in Louisiana still being denied testing because they do not meet ALL Criteria and if they allow you to take the test, results take up to 5 day and may still have issues with the test itself. IMHO, the CDC messed this up really bad. Those people had 4 months to ramp up and are barely even reactionary at this time.
And every BIG Corp wants billions upon billions in free bail out money. Feds are going to lay out tens of trillions in Corporate Welfare while tens of millions go unemployed waiting for $1,000 checks

Here’s how I see it. Hospitals and clinics probably had a good idea of how many masks they would need in case of an emergency. Likewise the manufacturers also had an idea of what they needed to have on hand in terms of stock to meet that demand. No one took into account a panicked American public whose immediate reaction was to buy and hoard every bit of mask inventory not nailed down. They wiped out stores, Amazon, and any other place you could go online and purchase masks. So the people that need them to carry out their job can’t find them and the idiotic public is sitting on their own personal stash waiting for the coming apocalypse.

Americans must be willing to adapt if they are bitching a bout goods being made overseas. We need to be self sufficient and have to accept prices maybe more expensive for American goods if that is even possible, however it looks like a long shot with this soft and sheltered population.

This is all a 100% lie from the first word until the last and you should be banned for continually spewing your nonsense.

Your statement about buying a respirator from an automotive online store is a lie.

Could a very busy hospital in NY state have different circumstances than your hospital?

That’s one way of looking at it. The other way is to look at yourself or your hospital’s administration and ask why some attention whore was smart enough to buy masks but I/we weren’t?

So the other way to look at it is some attention whore's daddy had 1 or 2 masks in the shed vs thousands per day for a single hospital

I’ve been saying this for 10 days now. Drugs, DME, public health supplies...all that manufacturing needs to be done here.

. Why didn’t the dept of HHH or CDC or NIH build a warehouse and stock it full of this stuff for a pandemic.
Money was made available to law enforcement, hospitals and maybe more after 9/11. I hauled truck loads of this kind of stuff to some of those places and put in store rooms.

What you are asking has been done already.

So what happened? Mismanaged? Wasted.

Placing blame may not be very easy.

Yep, let those lying commies continue to mass produce rubber dog turds and let's bring the necessities back in country.
