What's the difference between us giving them $20B a year plus ammunition and us giving them $30B a year to just make their own?

Lord.

Part of it is we want to make $10B in bullets here! Some of the same logic goes behind the Ukraine weapons. Its so our defense industrial capabilities are up and working, especially in the face of a likely Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

Seems low for how the pro-hamas group tells it

Does that include thrown together shacks, or just the poorly constructed buildings. The most impressive engineering is underground.

Israel is dropping the hammer.
quote:

"During the first six weeks of the war in Gaza, Israel routinely used one of its biggest and most destructive bombs in areas it designated safe for civilians."

Specifically: it used 2,000-pound bombs for this, which not even the US will use in cities:

‘Not seen since Vietnam’: Israel dropped hundreds of 2,000-pound bombs on Gaza, analysis shows

quote:

In the first month of its war in Gaza, Israel dropped hundreds of massive bombs, many of them capable of killing or wounding people more than 1,000 feet away, analysis by CNN and artificial intelligence company Synthetaic suggests.

Satellite imagery from those early days of the war reveals more than 500 impact craters over 12 meters (40 feet) in diameter, consistent with those left behind by 2,000-pound bombs. Those are four times heavier than the largest bombs the United States dropped on ISIS in Mosul, Iraq, during the war against the extremist group there.

Weapons and warfare experts blame the extensive use of heavy munitions such as the 2,000-pound bomb for the soaring death toll. The population of Gaza is packed together much more tightly than almost anywhere else on earth, so the use of such heavy munitions has a profound effect.

“The use of 2,000-pound bombs in an area as densely populated as Gaza means it will take decades for communities to recover,” said John Chappell, advocacy and legal fellow at CIVIC, a DC-based group focused on minimizing civilian harm in conflict.

Maybe the people that caused a 2,000 pound bomb being dropped will think twice before launching another attack against a country that could wipe them off the face of the earth, if they really wanted to. I doubt that’s going to happen because said people worship someone that was ok with killing innocent people. Islam in the US is one thing, Islam in the ME, Africa, and parts of Europe is on a different level, and should be dealt with accordingly when it gets out of hand.

Boo-fricking-Hoo.
The civilians were warned in advance and given time to head south. They chose (or were forced by Hamas) to stay. I say tough shite.

to me, it has nothing to do with supporting the Jewish religion at all. Don’t start a war and then cry about being in war. Don’t break every rule of war and then whine about rules of war.

Palestine made their bed. It’s sad, but I’m not going to armchair criticize Israel for defending themselves after a terrorist attack with unspeakable atrocities

That's kinda where I sit. Although I think Israel is committing atrocities in their own right. If we assume (and I don't) that Israel is serious this time about destroying Hamas, then there's something to be said for their current actions.

You're correct, there are no "safe zones" when a terrorist leadership has wrapped its militaristic and terroristic operations into every aspect of its citizen's lives.

And I will add that since this round started on Oct. 7 there have been Hamas terrorists, many high ranking, killed every day in Palestinian "refugee camps". They have been allowed to live and operate, and are even supported, within the confines of those Palestinian "refugee camps".

Mind you, the Hamas terrorist leadership says they have no duty to the other Palestinians within said "refugee camps" because those people are the responsibility of the UN and other organizations, not the elected leaders of Palestine.

Okay so at family’s house for holidays .. everyone is blah blah blah Two State Solution, poor Palestinians, coexist…. Does anyone have a good one page graphic on how many times this has been offered and rejected with the dates and names of wars (1948,1967, etc…). They aren’t believing me and have VERY short attention spans.

Tell them that the world is full of winners and losers. If the Palestinians want their own country maybe they should try to win the war.

There's a reason why all the native Americans don't have their own land anymore. They lost and the white man won.

How are these people accomplishing shitting down highways?

Are they just waiting for one person to stop instead of running them over and then flooding through?

Also who is at fault if you're going 80 and one of these clowns gets on tht highway trying to block it

Gaza will be in ruins when this over, but Hamas will win the war, Israel can't sustain these casualties, and the cost of the war is immense for them. The Golani Brigade was recently withdrawn, it suffered badly on October 7th, and they've taken heavy casualties in Gaza since then. Hamas isn't going to be raising a flag in Jerusalem, but they will have victory parades in Gaza. Survival and compelling the Israelis to retreat is a win for them.

The deathtoll won't have a meaningful impact on Hamas, not operationally. And their victory will make them more powerful, and Israel, proportionally weaker.
